To all!

How to play files >2gb? I tried Samsung players in diff Roms and TCPMP the device is just freezing. Most of all rips are with AC3 so Core players is out i guess. Any ideas?

The device can play videos upto 720p resolution without hiccups, after that, you will experience lags. Plus, it is also dependent on the codec used. The hardware graphics accelerator supports MP4 and DivX accleration so while these formats will play smoothly, other formats may not. Apart from that, the player must use Hardware Overlay Surfaces for playback purpose instead of BitBlt (Which is a software based process) etc to make use of this hardware acceleration. For example, In Core Player, you can turn on Hardware Acceleration by going to Menu>Tools>Settings>Select Page>DirecDraw and checking the "Overlay with Color key" checkbox and unchecking the "Use Blitting instead of overlay" and "Use Device Stretch for blitting" checkboxes.

Samsung Player uses these and other fine tuned settings therefore can play the videos of highest quality possible on this device.

@Russian-Patriot: Never tried playing a ripped file of >2 gb but if its <=720p in res and bitrate settings are not insane, it should work fine. AC3 I don't think will play, MP4 with AAC audio or DivX with MP3/aac audio will work fine.

Thank you all for such quick replies.

And Sumit thank you for reply but there is no settings tab in tools menu instead there is preferences tab, and there is no Direct Draw tab in salect page.

I am using Core player 1.3.1 as I have read it hear on modaco that it supports best to our device.

That's why I love Omnia Pro, Divx playback out of the box and the best thing - hardware acceleration. :) I'm still getting used to the idea that we don't need convert videos in order to play them without any lags in full fps. :D

I use version 1.3.6, this one has this option. The option is under Menu>Tools>Settings>Select Page>DirectDraw. This version also works absolutely great in our device.

I just try to use Core Player to play MP4 video (800x460 almost same as display resolution) with your setting. But it cannot smoothly play it. In the other hand, Samsung Touch Player can smoothly play it without any lag. However, the one thing that Core Player is better than Samsung Touch Player that is it can display 16M color in 64k color-based OS. However, it does not display completely smooth gradient but it look quite better than 54k color in Touch Player.

Do you have any suggestion?
