Guest gravityz3r0 Posted July 6, 2010 Report Share Posted July 6, 2010 (edited) I am not sure if this brightness problem is caused by MCR or it's the bug within Android itself, or it's the phone problem.. but i have been facing this problem for a while. First, go to brightness setting, TURN OFF the automatic brightness (doesn't happen when automatic mode is enabled) and set the brightness to lowest. Go back to homescreen. Start swiping your notification bar up and down, you can speed up or slow down the swipe while doing this but make sure your finger move all the up touching the notification bar and back down everytime u do it. Repeat it in as many different way as you can think, just make sure your swipe it up and down. And every now and then, i found that the brightness is increased suddenly back to medium-high setting. This new setting is random, but it's very apparent because the screen suddenly become bright and you know that the setting has been changed. I need to go to the brightness setting to lower it down again. But after swiping the notification bar a few more times, it will happen again. Important : At the end of 1 cycle of swiping down and up and upon reaching the notification bar at the end of swipe, LIFT your finger from the screen. Then only you can repeat the next cycle. The brightness bug will not kicks in if you did not lift your finger away. Everyone please help me check, it's a very easily problem to be reproduced by me. The SGS supports changing brightness by swiping across the notifications bar. Try it. The screen brightness changes according to the direction of swipe. The screen brightness changes according to the direction of swipe. You're probably just swiping a little sideways as you're swiping the notifications bar up and down. omg, how embarassing! thanks for clarifying that up, but still it's very annoying if you have your auto brightness setting disabled. I do not understand the exact gesture that it requires to actually change the brightness, but I do know that when i throw my notification drawer closed sometimes the brightness randomly just goes all the way up. It's annoying! Unless I am sitting in direct sunlight I never need my screen above 0% so because of this "feature" I have to have a brightness widget so that I can return the brightness back down to 0 when it is bumped up. If you have autobrightness off, then swiping the notification bar (horizontally) allows you to manually set the brightness level to any level you want. All the way to the left for minimum brightness, and all the way right for max brightness. Couldn't be simpler. I suppose its possible to accidentally trigger a change if you're pulling your notification bar down to the side instead of vertically, but I can't say I've ever done it. Always had auto brightness on but now I know its that easy from anywhere I will use it.
