Why would they do that? And how? And who? Orange? Forgive my lack of knowledge on this: I've never heard of a blacklisted phone before. I'm curious. And can you just change carrier? Guest sambartle
As the phones been stolen its probably worth reporting it to the police and passing them any contact details you have for the seller. My guess is they will do nothing about it, but it's possible you might get lucky. You won't get your cash back most likely but at least you'd be flagging that seller if they do it again and someone else reports it.
Guest sambartle
However before you do that.. is the phone unlocked or are you using a rebel sim? Whats the message that you are getting?

You most probably bought a stolen phone off Ebay. And it's now blocked since the original owner reported it stolen. And you are planning to re-sell it? Not a very bright idea imho. If your story is true return the phone to the phone operator and they can return it to the original owner. Perhaps you'll get a reward for your troubles, or at least you'll get a clean conscience. Conscience aside, it is an offence to possess stolen goods (at least here in Australia). If it's the same where you live, you are obliged to inform the police that you possess stolen goods. If you don't, you'll be slapped with theft.

Contact eBay with the incident number and if you've used PayPal to pay for it, contact them too. With any luck, you will get a refund from PayPal, eBay will close down this guys account and his telephone provider will charge him for the new phone on his next bill. Guest rayboy
Ebay is very good for buyers, just tell them and if you paid by paypal, they will refund you. A colleague of mine once bought a laptop that was locked, turns out it was stolen from a school. The school got the laptop back, my colleague got a full refund, the seller got arrested.
