Welcome to 'Paul's App of the Day', where I pick one of my favourite apps as featured app of the day! Today's app is...

Gesture Search

What they say

Gesture Search lets you quickly find a contact, a bookmark, an application, or a music track from hundreds or thousands of items by drawing gestures on the touch screen. Gesture Search continuously updates search results as you add each letter or digit and improves search quality by learning from your search history.

What we say

Quickly finding things on your Android phone can be a bit of a pain, whether it be contacts to dial (especially if you're on the stock Android dialer), an app from your huge install list or some other type of content. This is where Gesture Search from Google comes in. It's fantastically simple! Run app, spell item on screen, click to launch... it's as easy as that. If you're device is equipped with a 'search' hardware key, you can also map Gesture Search to a long press using the free 'Button Shortcut' utility available here. Perfect!

Simple yet effective. The best kind.

There is a degree of intelligence to Gesture Search too. When you write on screen, the application reads your handwriting but also makes allowances for errors. It works. Well!

Suggested improvements for the next version

I'd like to see the ability to bind to a hardware button built in to the app.
