Does anyone know what would happen if I took my Captivate that is currently flashed with I9000 firmware/ Captivate Kernel and installed Clockwork and then updated to Modaco ROM? After the rom load I would load the Kernel again within Clockwork.

Alot going on over at XDA with this new Captivate/ Samsung I9000 based phone

Anyone have an idea?

thanks for your time

Hey Larry,

Did you take your AT&T phone and flash it with i9000 firmware? If so did this get rid of AT&T crap? Second question...did it give you tethering? Thanks.

Yes I did. I have the I9000 Flash with the Captivate Kernel loaded, runs awesome! No more ATT crap. I wanted to try JG5, then update to Modaco's rom using recovery. Lastly I want to try the I9000 Froyo that was just released.

The european ROMs have tethering built in, it's under wireless settings and it's called Mobile AP. It works like a charm on my i9000 phone. Would be great to know that putting the i9000 firmware on the the Captivate works. I suspect that the CSC for AT&T might not include it, though. IF that's the case you might want to try using the EURO CSC. I've seen a few reports on that it works, but you may have to manually add the APN settings - easily found with Google search.
