Guest Darkstriker
I recall reading somewhere that closing the market, opening and logging into google talk and then opening the market again fixes the problem. You might want to give that a try
Guest Speckles
The only fix for me seems to be a factory reset, so now I create a rom backup at the end of each week and if the market stops working (stalling at "Starting download") then I just restore the latest backup and it starts working again. Guest Speckles
:D without the abillity to download something from the market? If you can't download from the market, then it's quite pointless to run a rom backup, as the entire purpose is to be able to restore a backup if your market stops working :D

Hi - thanks for your help :D I sorted out the issue eventually myself and this is the FB posting - you may want to retain this as it affects according to my internet research loads of people!! if you have an android phone that suddenly wont download from the market turn off the 'labs' feature in your gmail account on line. This is critical. Its under 'settings'. Then read this :- http://www.bitterwallet.com/googlemail-cha...id-phones/29294 ...and you will get no help from your service provider 'orange' and HTC in my case and google wont talk to you - so how do they get away with this?? It's taken me 76 hrs to work out their screw ups!!!!

Guest Speckles
There are too many things that can kill your market, so the only advice is to backup regularly (and obviously make sure the market works before doing so). For some reason, my market currently works fine over 3G, but doesn't work ("Starting download" forever) if I try to download over Wifi. Typically they say the problem is that the market is unable to authenticate the download and so doesn't get the required hash from the software to start it. How to fix I've no idea - there are lots of random things to try but none are guaranteed to work.

Anybody knows how we can stop "labs"? Just under "Settings" doesn't helps...
