Custom Recovery

So i successfully installed a Custom ROM on my N1 a few months ago and a friend wanted me to do it to his. I did not want to incase something went wrong but he insisted i would do it anyway.

The phone will currently not boot into recovery so i can install CM6. I have flashed Amon RA with fast boot but when i try to go into recovery it just hangs at the N1 logo. I found other people on Google that said they have experienced this problem and said hitting volume up/down has fixed it, so far that hasn't worked for me.

I have also tried just doing a "fastboot boot recovery.img" but that also brings up the N1 logo and freezes. The only thing that happened out of the ordinary but i dont even remember what it said is when i went to root it. It did not say OKAY it said something of what seemed to be an error but when i rebooted everything seemed to be fine. It turned on with the unlock icon and the bootloader says its unlocked. I tried the root again though anyway and it says it already has been rooted. I have also did a clear storage and tried to do everything again but same result of it just hanging.

Good news is the phone still works boots up fine and everything but now he has a rooted phone and cant receive OTA and cant install Custom ROMs.

Thanks for any help.

Edit: About installing Superboot i ran the install-superboot-windows.bat and it seemed like success but it closed right away.. but i think i remembering that happening on mine.. is that normal?

Did you try re-flashing AmonRA recovery again?

Cuz rooting the phone (superboot) isn't the same as installing the custom recovery. AFAIK the command is more like "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" .. not sure what "fastboot boot recovery.img" would accomplish...

Yes Amon RA was successfully flashed. I have retried it with different versions all say they were successful.

I read the "fastboot boot recovery.img" would boot you into the custom recovery without actually putting it on the phone so you can do a wipe data if you were having issues with "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"

Thanks

Just a suggestion - download and install RomManager (the free version, but if you like it - buy it!) , and allow it to install Clockwork recovery. If the phone is rooted, this should be a painless step to do.
