So I'm leaving to travel for a month. slim chance of easy access to cell phone charger, what rom should I load up for "the long haul" or do one of the chefs want to attempt the ultimate travel rom optimized to stay up for days at a time?

I don't know how to design one, but if you give me some notes I'll cook somefin up for yas

Also I bout an extended battery from vzw a while back and it litteraly lasts days. I can go 48 sometimes 72 hours without a recharge. And I'm CONTSANTLY playing with this thing, flashing and changing files, using the net, playing morphgear with my ps3 controller etc.

It sticks out quite a bit, but the added advantage to the extended battery is that it raises the phone up just enough so the back speakers sound even louder when watching a movie.

just my 2 cents.

amd,

on amazon it shows stock but the reviews say they don't deliver. Where did you get the extended battery from?

went into the vzw store, and they shipped it 2 day air for free since I was a "good" customer.

Just how much does it stick out? I've been considering getting one but not if it would be to bulky in my pocket and I can't find any picture of it on it's side to see how much wider it would be.

I'd say about 1/4 of an inch or so.

lol! That is one of the oddest pictures I have seen on here. I don't know why, but it's just odd.

Thanks for taking the time to take and upload a picture, that's quite a bit thicker than I had expected but I still think I'll be considering it as I use my phone for pretty much everything and have run out of juice away from a charger on a few occasions and you say or extends the life significantly.

the extended battery case also fits right into your hands like a psp or something, so its very comfortable to hold.

Another option would be one of the usb/solar battery chargers. I found one on amazon for 15$ US and thought i had gotten a good deal on it because of all the positive reviews for the product. When i got it here it did not even hold a charge so ive sent it back to amazon and i should have a replacement here shortly. i will let you guys know how that works out.

By the way it is the Scoshe Solbatt 2, they have alot more elaborate ones but i just liked the fact that this one comes with a carabiner clip

the scosche solbatt is useless.

I assume you are saying that because the O2 does not support the power output that the solbat2 uses, that's samsungs problem not the solbats it works on pretty much any other device. I got one of those for my dad and he uses it quite a bit and would not say it's useless.

ive since gotten my replacement and the second one does not hold a charge either. The usb cable that comes with it is mini usb but it does not work with my phone. I have a wallcharger that is also a usb cable and i even tried it with that and it still did not register with my phone even though i had the solbatt plugged into the wall socket. I left it in the sunniest window in my house for 3 days and it did not even have a charge.

does your dad use it with a windows mobile device?

His is a droid incredible, I've also tested it on another droid as well as several mp3 players, my O2 was the only thing that it failed to charge(but it will charge when it's turned off). I suppose it could have something to do with windows mobile, that thought never occurred to me. I do have another winmo phone laying around that I could test it with but my dad is currently out of town for an indefinite period of time and has the solbat with him.

It should charge fully in a 1.5 to 2 days via solar, I'm assuming you are going off the button press 4 light indicator on the device itself and not just plugging it into something to see if it charged...maybe you are just unlucky with lemons, it does seem to be fairly common with the product based on customer reviews, but hell a $15 dollars is cheap for a 1500mah backup battery never mind the whole solar thing.
