Dell customer service warning if your over 28 days with your Streak

Hi all,

If you have bought your Streak direct from Dell or the CPW 02 want nothing to do with it and CPW say they can't repair the Streak so you are forced to deal with Dell Customer service obviously if your within the first 28 days they send you a new device within 48 hrs if not they tell you it will be picked up by UPS within 48hrs which in my case it took them 9 days to collect the Streak from me oh and i don't live in a remote area i live in London.

They then tell you it will take up to 10 days before you get your Streak back and sorry to have to break it to you but that is a lie as the Streak has to go to their repair centre in Hungary so when i hadn't received mine back within 10 days i phoned to find out what was happening and was told it was in the process of being shipped back to me yet again another lie as after this i checked the tracking via UPS and in fact it takes a week for it to arrive in Hungary at Dells service centre. So just how can you get your Streak back within 10 days if it takes 14 days just for the journey there and back never mind how long it may actually take them to repair it and the simple answer is it can't its going to spend 14 days going from London in my case to Hungary and then another 7 days to come back that's two weeks that the Streak spends just shipping because obviously Dell must be using the cheapest shipping option.

So far my Streak has been broken and unusable for 20 days and even if it is already fixed is still at least 7 days away from me this is all on a 2 month old Streak that i haven't broken but suffered a hardware fault if this is Dells idea of good customer service and relations they are mad. I have to say the actual customer service agents are always nice and as helpful as they can be but really can't do anything about it the 3 managers i have spoken to how ever have all failed to call me back with the updates they promised.

I loved my Streak but can't see any option other then to sell it on its return as if anything goes wrong again it would mean being without it for what 2-3 weeks and that is just absurd IMHO. I am so annoyed about this and the amount of times i have been lied to i have actually sent an E-Mail to Micheal Dell and outlined the course of events not that i actually expect any response but felt it was worth a try.

I don't know maybe if you bought direct from 02 it's different but i sure as hell won't be buying anything direct from Dell or CPW again that's for sure i can't be without a device i rely on to organise my life for this long due to no fault of my own so have bought a Galaxy S as i sold my Toshiba TG01 once i was happy with the Streak and need a device on a daily basis i miss the 5" screen but nothing else especially as i have an official 2.1 Rom and Froyo coming soon.

Same for me. I bought it in France, from The Phone House. The screen LED was broken after 5 days (no shock, no fall), Gorilla glass intact. TPH didn't want to know about it. Dell accepted to fix it, as a product defect.

But ... exactly like you, I have been without my Deel Streak for 20 days today and counting, and all remarks you made are valid for me. Nice people on the technical end, but permanent lies and no call back as promised and no clue for the WHEN.

Dell I love you ! This is not what it used to be, from my previous experiences with Dell (several computers, printers, displays but not very many failing, I admit). I really think they didn't set the appropriate logistics for this kind of device launch.

Its bank holiday this weekend so I'll be surprised if I see mine any time soon.

PS I'd be worried about putting it up to my ear when he gets it back, he might feel a little sting and find 2 small marks on his neck...

wow thats pretty bad. for my nexus one, htc covered second day air fedex label both trips to the repair center in texas, im in los angeles and i got my phone back within a week after sending it.

Hi all,

Well since i sent an E-Mail to Micheal Dell i have today received an E-Mail from the Dell Executive Customer Support Team saying they had tried to phone me and have left a message and asking for a better contact number and a best time to call so they can discuss my situation of course i will let you all know of any further developments.

I got mine back today.....they gave me a new battery and a new streak. They coulndnt fix it in 7 days so replaced it.

So i have a new streak and 2 batteries, sounds good eh? Except for the fact that my old charger wont charge either battery and a message says the battery or charger is broken. same message when hooked up to the pc.

The saga continues.....oooh it fixed itself my old battery had 57% still in it hence me being able to type this post.

ill let this one charge then try the new battery.

Phew!!

PS mine took 9 days total, left it at o2 last monday and it arrived 8:30am today.

Well done O2 :huh:

This is encouraging, I'm just about to go back to 1.6 and take mine to the o2 store as the vibration is intermitant

I think i've had this too, vibration just stops for no reason.. I usually find a bit of a tap on the right hand side brings it back again. almost like its just "stuck" in place. Doesn't really bother me too much, certainly not enough to go without my phone for several days anyway :huh:

Hi all,

Well i received a call from the Dell Executive Customer Support Office yesterday and apparently will have a new Streak within 7-10 days and then this morning UPS turned up again to collect my already sent Streak to go to Hungary confident this is on its way to being resolved i am not obviously will keep all informed of any progress or not as the case may be.

I think i've had this too, vibration just stops for no reason.. I usually find a bit of a tap on the right hand side brings it back again. almost like its just "stuck" in place. Doesn't really bother me too much, certainly not enough to go without my phone for several days anyway :huh:

Yeah, I agree youre right - but there is a bit of play in the bottom left corner of the device as well which im not really ahppy about either. Its a brand new peice of kit, got it toward the end of July so I want it to be in reasonable condition after a month of use.

Oh yeah, I completely agree.. especially as there's another problem too. The bottom left corner of mine is slightly raised, barely half a milimeter, but there's no play there. I don't recall experiencing the loss of vibration on 1.6, maybe its related to all this 2.1 goodness we've been partaking in. Then again it happens so rarely I might be mistaken, only three or maybe four times in the time I've owned the phone. I'd be interested to hear what o2 say about it though :huh:

well its me again and ive definately got a dodgy charger to go with my new streak and 2 batteries lol

the new battery wont charge at all and my old battery is now on 10% hasnt fallen below this yet, but had battery charging disabled pop up :s

ps this new one came already at 4399 when i can charge the bugger its getting backed up!

igor i need more power!!!

Check out this http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Troubleshooting lool for 'Battery recalibration' toward the end of the page. If you have Root Explorer you can navigate to it that way and delete it without having to go into recovery.

Just out of Interest what day did you take youre streak in on and how long did it take to come back to you?

my problem is this one is virgin clean, oh boy did i smile seeing it! but the battery that came with it wont charge at all just displays the caution triangle with a pic of the 30 pin connector, like i dont know that its meant to be plugged in! (yes it was lol)

the old battery is now on 4% and im not sure it will last much longer. I wanted it charged before rooting and backing up.

I left it with O2 last monday, they gave me back the back cover, sd card, battery & charger. I opted to have the repair center (anovo uk) send it back to me direct rather than collecting it in store. this morning it arrived by DHL with a letter to say they aim to fix in 7 days and cause they couldnt they were giving me a new one with battery. shame they didnt throw in a charger!

So it was 9 days from handing it in to getting a replacement, quite good compared to the Transylavian mob. but it did look like it had the wolfman buff it up nice and shiny :huh:

And so I wait for O2 to send me a new charger to go with my new streak...lol

I am finally getting a new charger woohoo!, next week that is...5 days :huh: lol I then will be able to enjoy all that 1.6 goodness if it charges that is lmao.

i'll turn into foghorn leghorn at this rate, I hope Marc has had some good news by now.

my streak still says to connect it to the charger when i use the plug! so i still need a new charger. it took bloody ages to bring it back from the dead using usb, but i can finally say IT LIVES :huh:

Well you'll never believe it just a mere 29 days and i have a Streak with me so i suppose you'd guess i was happy WRONG I'm livid as it appears my Streak could not be repaired due too its hardware failure so you guess I'd get a new one wouldn't you wrong again i get a refurbished unit and whilst the one i sent was mint the one i have got back has a small scratch on the front right hand side above the back menu home and on the back has a scratch on the speaker grill and a paint chip off the top left hand corner of the battery cover. I know these things don't effect its use but they will effect its resale value badly and all my devices are always nearly mint when i sell them i really am seriously pissed off and have already sent an E-Mail to Dell Executive Customer Support and will now waste another hour or two of my life calling Dell Streak support direct. This is now beyond a joke and if things aren't sorted soon i am going to start making all of this very public I've had enough of this crap now thank god i have a Galaxy S is all i can say.

They are taking the piss, what an utter nightmare! don't let the buggers get away with it, take names of everyone you speak to and smear the sobs on their twitter page too! Id put off anyone buying a damn thing off them direct if this is what they call customer service. All companies forget they are judged by how they deal with f*ck ups not on how well they ass kiss when they take your money. They obviously dropped the back cover, my old one fell on a laminate floor by only a foot and has that white mark on the top of the cover.

I seriously expected the worst dealing with o2 and ive mine insured too. but for Dell to use transylvanian numpties as a repair centre is a joke.

Well after another couple of E-Mails to Dell Executive Customer Support i at last feel like i have got some where with them as in response to my last E-Mail i received both an E-Mail and a phone call as they now want to send me a Streak Carbon Black or Red 32GB and just needed confirmation of acceptance which i did for a Black Streak whilst on the phone and again via E-Mail and am at last feeling a little happier. Although no one should have to go threw the process i have had to endure at least this now goes some way to compensating me for what i have had to go through. On the upside not only should i receive a extra 16GB of storage but I'm guessing it may also be unlocked which could be very useful as if it is i can then consider selling my Galaxy S and use my Voda Sim as well as my 02 Sim in it. Now i have just got to wait and see how long it takes for my new Streak to arrive but to be honest I'm not expecting it any faster then 7-10 days hopefully this will be the end of it and the next post will confirm I've received it at.

Thanks for your comments and sorry to hear your still having problems but for me if i now get an unlocked Streak and can use my Voda Sim in it which comes with 1GB of Data per month i will just use the 02 Sim to stream TV and download large files when i don't expect phone calls late at night. The thing is for me i still much prefer the Streaks larger screen to my Galaxy S and despite it being Super AMOLED i still think the Streaks screen is better plus having used 2.1 on the Galaxy I'm still quite happy using the 1.6 on the Streak and most probably will do so until Froyo 2.2 comes out for it especially after reading about the widget and layout changes on 2.1 on the Streak. I'm also pretty sure i will also get a better price for selling the Galaxy then i would for the Streak.
