Flashing U8150 rom

Hello, I read in another forum that the new U8150 and the U8110 have the same hardware, so I downloaded a Froyo ROM from the official page.

Can I flash it without risks? Or I can break the phone doing it? I don't know how this update works (for example, if it flashes an incompatible bootloader, so the phone won't boot anymore).

Thanks.

holy **** the boot versions file inside updata.app is ........ surprising .......

it contains this line

U8110V100R001C85B101_BOOT

upgradable versions contain

U8110V100R001C85B101

U8100V100R001C109B101

i rly hope this means u8110 and u8100 actualy can run froyo with little modifications.

what i mean is iv extracted the update.app and no i got boot.img,recovery.img,system.img,userdata.img now how do i make a update.zip from them?

If you're feeling brave you could try flashing the boot.img and system.img directly using fastboot. Make sure you have a backup first. (And don't blame me if it goes wrong, I don't have a Pulse Mini so I've no idea how hackable/resilient it is to this stuff.)

That would be simpler.

  • Alternatively if you wish to create an update.zip the process is complicated but essentially it goes something like this:
  • unyaffs the system image (best to do it as superuser to preserve userIDs)
  • Now you have an unpacked system image so you can make any modifications you like.
  • Then run the make-update-script (which can be found in the Android AOSP code) to repack it as an update.zip
  • Delete all of the symbolic links and construct a /META-INF/com/google/android/update-script
  • Finally sign it. (google testsign.jar)
  • ...I probably missed out a few things...

I've flashed the rom through fastboot and it booted:

-DATA CONNECTION/PHONE: Works

-SOUND:

SPEAKER
:
Doesn't work

HEADPHONES
:
Works

-CAMERA: Works (Camera button doesn't work)

-WIFI: Doesn't work

Sometimes the phone displays that the data connection isn't active but it is and works.
