remove branding?

Yes, some don't have a branding, but some do have one. I think the Vodafone ones do have brandings. I want to buy the GT540 on eBay and they are sometimes branded, that's why I'm asking.

Sooo if i buy one, could the branding be removed?

EDIT: Can one simply flash or update the phone with a regular branding-free-GT540 firmware? Is the branding removed then?

I don't actually know for certain, as I have an unbranded model. However my girlfriend's old X10 Mini Pro came with a load of Vodafone 360 apps on which I believe she could've uninstalled.

In my experience I have found Vodafone & Orange the worst for branding their phones, with firmware changes etc. Then T-Mobile and then O2 having the least amount of branding.

My GT540 has no reference to O2 on it anywhere, no apps, no wallpapers, no boot screen. Paid just over £100 from an O2 shop (had a few quid discount from my PAYG account loyalty)

You WHAT?! Those lying skanks told me they stopped that last year. I had to go to Carphone Warehouse.

Back on topic though, indeed, O2 are pretty good for non-invasive phones, none of my earlier O2 branded phones have been too heavy on the junk (usually only a link to the O2 Active site or whatever it's called).

Hmm, the problem is that I'd like to have a phone completely without branding. A new GT540 costs 160€-170€. But on eBay you can get them for about 120€, because people get the phones when they renew their contract and sell the phone on eBay. But sometimes this phones are branded.

Now i think, if you can remove the branding, I would get one for cheap with branding and remove that. But if it's not possible, I would spend more to have a branding-free one.

And on the internet I can't find information about branding on GT540, because the phone is not that popular...

Best thing would be if one could flash a branded phone with a normal branding-free-firmware...

The only branding on the o2 version are the APN's for texts/mms(editable), and a bookmark for the o2 homepage on the browser(also editable).

apart from that, there's nothing.

The Vodaphone ones, and the Orange ones are branded to hell.

Yes, I know there are differences, but that's not my question! I just want to know:

I buy a Vodafone device, that's branded to hell.

Can I flash a regular branding-free-firmware to that phone?

I read this thread: http://android.modaco.com/content/lg-gt540...pdates-from-lg/

And as far as I understand it's possible to flash a branded phone with a normal firmware. Is that right?

Thaaank you! That's what I wanted to know!

1 issue, that you will probably see on the forums, is that it can work, or not work, or mess up during the install, causing headaches, but there doesn't seem to be anything that can't be overcome with a little perseverence.

Yeah I read about that, but as far as i understand I always can make my phone work again, even if a flash goes wrong, don't I?
