Guest miker71
with great power comes .. great big batteries. i used a mugen extended battery on my Nexus One and didn't have any problems with it. i'm two minds - i love the convenience of an extended battery - hate the inconvenience of none of the standard accessories fitting afterwards ... will wait for a video review of this mutha before final opinion - not an impulse buy at $

Guest twe
I remember reading that it's not always to do with the mAh that they quote. A lot of talk I saw on this other Android forum about how sufficient the battery has to be. This was when I had my HTC Desire. Anyway the higher quoted mAh batteries did not last longer, probably about the same as the HTC original or worse. So it's to do with the quality of the battery. Guest Shauneh
A lot has to do with the make up of the battery, the way in which it holds its charge, the way in which the battery reports charge to the device and also when the battery stops getting charged. For instance, a lot of poor batteries have insufficient ways of telling if it is fully charged, this causes overcharging and kills off parts of the cell, meaning in a short space of time, it will drastically reduce the lifespan of the battery. I would never trust 3rd party batteries, those who have a PSP and have bought the 'mega' batteries will know that mAH from 3rd parties hardly ever equates to quality. Battery technology is probably the slowest growing/progressing tech as they still need to maintain a really high quality in order to strafe off degrading. There are some exceptions and no-one can really vouch for each model, but at the same time, you get mixed reviews from the same product for this reason. Thanks, -- Shauneh
Guest tudorw
thanks, I think I'll stick to carrying a spare and maintaining the svelte lines of my streak... plus it would take some serious modding to get my official case to fit around that... Guest satiros
hi i have use mugen with my hp 614c no problem with battery or delivery everything ok BUT besides turn in ugly my device or this device when it fell out of my pocket im 190cm with the extra weight the fall fxxx my device i believe if i was on stock i woudnt have any problem and i suggest external power (portable charger or extra charged battery to all of you ) because the acceleration with extra weight brings you device out of specs for fall take care hope i helped satiros

Guest Amdathlonuk
because the acceleration with extra weight brings you device out of specs for fall Unfortunately that's not entirely true.... Once critical mass has been reached, all things will fall at the same speed (depending on aerodynamics...etc). :P
Guest falum
cant resist a physics twist in a topic. The force it hits the ground with is the change in momentum (mass x Velocity) divided by the time to change momentum (hitting the floor). so even though there is no change in acceleration, the extra mass gives it more momentum so the force goes up. I suppose it really depends on how it hits the ground. sometimes its just bad luck that you twang a gadget in a soft spot. Just my geeky 2 pence worth. Guest Tim6772
Also need to consider: Height before drop minus distance before terminal velocity (deducted from 'Absolute' terminal velocity) divided by physical mass of dynamic proportions and maximum rebound density of object and target materials, yeah, boring lol :P
Guest Barracuda81
Hi! Is there any chance to fix battery indicator in Android for such huge capacity battery? It's indicates charge level incorrectly. For more than half a day I using battery with level less than 1% with no chance to know the real status of charge. Guest GriZlore
Have you tried the Battery Left widget? that enables you to calibrate each battery you use and also allows you to specify the battery capacity
Guest Barracuda81
Now I'm in the middle of process of testing Mugen Power 4800 mAh Battery. Well, one week of usage and two recharges. I've received battery last Friday, charged it at Monday a little and Thursday in full (whole night 8 hours min). Well, what could I say....today is my second charge. So I could say that it can last for 3 days of use. Not so bad actually. So what I did on phone: 1. Calls 2. Music in Car 3. Games 4. Video a little After the indicator of charge in Android becomes red you got at least 6-8 hours more before you phone dies. One little inconvenience at the beginning is that you have to train you battery and need to guess the moment when to start to charge battery and have enough time (8-12 hours) to charge it well even if the indicators shows you that battery fully charged. Right now I'm testing Battery Life widget in order to calibrate real capacity for battery. Thanks to GriZlore
Guest sashamed
Does anybody tried to use this battery with gingerbread? Does gingerbread have better measuring battery life than froyo? With froyo 2.2.2 , in first 24h, I have battery life from 100% to 1%, and second 2 days I have all the time only 1%. I never know real battery life. Guest AIR-WIZZ
I have the Mugen 4800 mAh on my Streak 5. I picked it up on eBay for $75 from a guy who no longer uses his Streak. I also have the Commuter series Otterbox Case. I modified the Otterbox to accomodate the Mugen 4800mAh by cutting out the back using the original battery cover as a template. Works great. Look here--> Going to try using 'Battery Calibration' by Nema available on the App Store. I'll post my results When I get them.
