Ummm, what is this based on and what is the difference between this and MCR?

It would probably useful to give your ROM a name ('404mod' ? :)) to avoid confusion?

Also thanks for 'editing' my topic title for me... but you might want to leave in that its a MCR image... rather than a ROM?

Unless I'm mis-understanding your terminology...

I think it's more a modified r3 than a brand new ROM. :)

its r3 of my de-originated ROM...

Tho the frist 2 versions where just a ZIP to replace the existing files..

r4 will be different again since I'm not sure about this MCRi business

Thanks a lot for this, exactly what I could do with.

I've no real interest in other peoples custom ROM, I just want a stock/generic ROM to work from.

Thats my aim here too, I want to get rid of as much of the Orange Junk as possible... and free up as much space as possible..

Glad you like it

Have you checked your SDcard? has it renamed the mcri-system.tar.gz file with a .flashed on the end?

Hi Sebastian,

Yes this happened to me, I've been stuck on the green android man then I used

fastboot-windows flash recovery recovery.blade.stock.img

fastboot-windows flash boot boot.blade.stock.img

Which got me back to the orange logo, but since then I've tried everything but cant get it to install a rom, I have also tried to superboot - root again but this just makes it go back to the green android man again?.

Got any suggestions?

as xzyk points out, it seems the file is corrupted on sendspace.... hmmm

I did test download it before I posted this, so I'm not sure what happened... I will re-upload it and update the post, once its up you should be able to put that file on your SDCard and it will work..

Or you could try one of the Modaco roms in the mean time...

hey sebastian404, are you likely to upload your de-oranged rom again? After playing with my SF for days now I'm ready to try a clean'n'lean ROM version on it.

thanks.

I tried to reupload r3, but re-downloading it to test it, it was still corrupted... seems SendSpace is having problems.

However R4 is just about done, hopefully I'll be uploading it tomorrow.... and its AWESOME!

if its a lean rom I will definetly be trying it. I prefer cooked roms to be bare and then i can load apps I like later, since i have a2sd working now, i can even load them to the SD card.

Did you get A2SD via a cooked ROM? Would like to do this but have a feeling that any attempt to partition my SD card will mean I lose all my current data. Will be a pain to back up and restore.

a2sd is on this forum, the link one is only one minor version behind. You can find the latest by googling for it.

If you have clockworkmod installed I would recommend doing a backup first, then also do a full SD backup, via a card reader if available, to your PC. Also via clockworkmod is a partition manager available, via Advanced. You can partition your SD card to FAT32 (must be first partition) and second partition as an EXT2 512MB and swap partition of 0MB. You then need to mount your sdext partition and finally execute the a2sd app, and ofcourse reboot.

Then downloan an app, via the market, called 'Quick System Info' which will show you your A2SD information, if all went well.

It's not straightforward and I would not recommend it unless you're happy with using recovery if you need it.

You can also see the a2sd partition, via an adb connection, as shown in the attached screen grab.

The /system/sd is where you a2sd EXT2 partition is and above shows that around 32K has been moved into it.

Good luck !

A2SD not working for me. I'm using the same Sd card from my Hero. It's Fat32, Ext2 256 swap 64MB. I don't understand how can you make swap partition with 0MB space. I'm not able to mount Ext2 partition. Shame.

//edit

Oh ah it's working now. I haven't done anything :/ Wierd
