Welcome to 'Paul's App of the Day', where I pick one of my favourite apps as featured app of the day! Today's app is...

NewsRob

What they say

NewsRob is a RSS/Atom newsreader that auto syncs with Google Reader.

Attention: NewsRob is slow on Galaxy S class devices unless you use the anti lag fix on your rooted phone.

What we say

The best Google Reader client on Android IMHO bar none. :)

I stuck with the payed version of FeedR. I tried the free version of this as well, but I prefer FeedR. Once I had an update problem with it and the dev was really really helpful. That decided it forever :P

I tried Newsrob for a few days but found it odd that two-way sync didn't work (i.e. stuff read on my phone wasn't marked as read online), and the app reporting unread stuff that was actually read. Would you (Paul or anyone else) say that it can get glitchy sometimes, or am I missing something?

Yup, this is a great app but I prefer FeedR as well.. perfect two way sync as well as a very nice UI. The only thing FeedR is missing is a unified view of all the categories.

I have to say, trying Newsrob for a while didn't fill me with joy, so I took a punt on FeedR based on your comments above.

...and it's well worth the £1.25.

Snappy and neat interface, detailed sync & cache options, three sizes of widget, sync progress bar(!) and small apk size among other things. Sorry Paul, but FeedR wins this round in my opinion. Different strokes for different folks! Mustn't forget that this is called "Paul's App of the Day" however :P
