on WP7, im hearing there have been cut backs in some functionality such as copy and paste, access to registry (if you need to). is this true?
as a developer, I know I can use the new development environment for WP7 but still, what else has been "cut"?

I was going to purchase this today from O2 but...if im going to lose functionality in some common aspects (cut/paste)....

Cut and paste will be in an update, it was not ignored just not implemented in the initial release.
