The normal DesireHD 'poweroff' seems to put it in some kind of hibernate-like state, which allows it to start up real quick. But that doesn't actually reboot the OS to close all apps and clean memory, it just restores it exactly as it was before poweroff.
You can easily see the difference if you remove the battery - it takes a normal time (for other phones) to boot and the notifications are gone.
How can this be forced without removing the battery? The cover is a pain to get off and on and doesn't seem that solid...
