I think Liveware is the problem. I removed it from my Streak and reinstalled the Liveview app and now the connection is more stable and the battery is lasting longer. Im not calling it yet, but so far its much better. The phone seems to last longer as well. I think its causing issues having both the LiveView app and the Liveware app installed/running at the same time.

Also it seems to be firmware upgradable. If you hold down both buttons eventually a little USB icon appears with the letters DFU (device firmware upgrade?) , im guessing it can then be connected to a PC and the firmware flashed.

Nope, I never installed the LiveWare app at all and have the same problems as everyone else.

Hmm, ok. Its certainly problematic anyway, telling me i have no liveWare devices installed, when i clearly do. Perhaps a reinstall of LiveView was the fix.

Yesterday i got 5h45m out of the battery. Today i have more RSS feeds added and yet its now at 4hrs but the battery indicator hasnt moved.

I had no livewire device installed until i followed the instructions on page 12. Do not install the live view application. Pair your device in bluetooth, then use livewire to detect the device, which then downloads liveview from the market automatically. This solved it for me!

And it's actually the same .apk which you can install manually. What's the difference? Your solution is just placebo IMHO.

It is but that doesnt mean it will work the same way. It depends on the effect of having Liveware loaded first at boot, what services, folders and such Liveware creates/starts. I will try that now on my Desire, which his being much less reliable with the liveview than the Streak as it turns out. As the day went on it got worse and worse.

I'm sure it will.
We have the DFU-mode and when we install the SE Update Service drivers will install for the unit too.
The question is if SE will use it...

This thingy drives me crazy...

1) I installed as dumb first user in first place LiveWare AND LiveView. This caused my phone to freeze several times. I read here LiveWare is the culprit and removed it thus only using LiveView.

2) I can connect to the device only once... It syncs time then and I can read it on the LiveView watch. So far - ok. But after some time, maybe 1-2 hours latest, the connection is aborted again (no signaling for this). So I do not even get this till I press the ON button for my LiveView watch and see again 00:00:00 as time shown. When I try to reconnect with the LiveView app, it is refused. So far only rebooting the mobile phone (!) helped.

3) At NO time LiveView app managed to make automatically reconnect

4) Sometimes the LiveView devices is unresponsive - I press just ON for see time like a watch, then press ON again to shutdown display and it does not react. Sometimes it freezes just for several seconds and then reacts again, most on all keystrokes I tried in the meantime.

5) Often enough, the LiveView device freezes in PlugIn usage

6) Seriously: NO MAIL NOTIFICATION? I see SMS/MMS, I see missed calls, I see RSS - but no mail?

I am not sure what to do - I've never seen a worse running device... I am not sure what parts of improvement could be covered by me. I do not even talk about the design pain points like
- SE logo coming out of the backside of the device - so the chance to ever get a thinner frame and a good looking wristband to make it more look like a nice watch is nearly zero
- come on - I really must remove the whole device out of the frame to reach USB? Why didn't they put it on the side?
- ugly wristband / thick plastic frame

Yes, the price is cheap (I paid 47 Euro = ~40 GBP) and yes, the idea is nice. But so far, nothing works for me...

I also had my Desire running MCR v9, I read somewhere on XDA that someone with a sense-less rom wasn't suffering as badly so whacked on cyanogen and its a lot better. Not solved by any means but it performs a hell of a lot better.

Haven't had to hard reset (hold power down for 15+ secs) at all since switching.
Oh, and I'm pretty much using it as instructed, liveware through marketplace then liveview through same.
