Undumped ROMS

If you have a device without a stock ROM listed in the post above, or a device that is not listed, please get in touch

Dumping your device's ROM

The simplest method to dump your devices ROM, is to use the 'romdump' program, there is no need to root your device, or install SuperUser as the installer comes with it's own root exploit

Guest oh!dougal

From another thread ...

The portuguese version of SF (Optimus San Francisco - 189€) started selling today.

Can some one give me instructions on how to dump the ROM so I can ask someone to dump it? It may have some updated bits :P

Thanks in advance.

Apart from the build date, do we have any idea what the actual chronology of the kernels is? If you judge by the "B" number of the internal sw version (1.0.0) then the French would be most advanced (11) followed by UK (9). Or is that just the number of iterations they needed before getting it working? Is there maybe something else in the kernel that could give us some clues (like versions of libraries, etc.)?

It is really hard to tell, for example, we know OUK are working on B06 to fix the problems with the apps (still no sign of that), but its internal number could be anything..

the more recent ROMS seem to have less and less customisation, the Greek and Hungarian ROMS seem to as close to Stock as there is, no bundled apps at all, just the APN and default languages changed.

Interesting things to note:

The Greek (Wind) ROM was clearly based on the OUK rom, as the OUK boot animation is still in the framework.

The French (Bouygues Telecom) ROM is based on the (yet undumped) German ROM, as the BASE animation in the framework.

The Hungarian (T-Mobile) ROM is based on a (yet undumped) T-mobile ROM, as there is a T-Mobile animation in the framework.

Its also worth noting that the OUK and BY's kernels where built in a Linux box, but the rest where complied in a different environment.

I'd also like to see ro.com.google.gmsversion for each build, could that be added to the list in the first post?

Ooh -- are you suggesting this might be a better indicator of the version of the kernel? Seems to follow the release date, with the Finnish one being the latest version [just!].

GMS is Google Mobile Service, its just the version of search and the other sync/marketplace aps.

I was surprised to see that ZTE had been updating that, tho I have not gone and checked the versions of the apps just yet..

Just looked at what I think is a significant library: libril-qc-1.so. This differed between the Finnish and OrangeUK ROMs, but it's a little hard (for me!) to tell what might have changed. The closest I could get to anything interesting is that they have almost the same named functions, except only the UK ROM has these:

perso_gw_init_completed_recv

qcril_cm_phonesvc_request_notify_network_lock
and only the Finnish ROM has these:
qcril_mmgsdi_internal_read_ust_callback

qcril_mmgsdi_process_internal_read_ust_callback

So it doesn't look to me like it's just things like simple changes for different providers.

(Sorry, I am a newbie)

The Finnish Saunalahti (/Elisa, Elisa is the parent company of Saunalahti) ZTE Blade is not sim-locked, when you buy it. It even says it in the specs page.

Are the phones in other countries sim-locked?

The UK SF is supplied locked to Orange.

There were some reports of flashing 2.2 over-riding that lock. (The lock returned on flashing back to 2.1)

All 2.2's so far have been built on the foundation of that same kernel (with various different tweeks!)

And I was right, I checked the Vending apk (Google Market Place), the Current 'live' version is

package: name='com.android.vending' versionCode='2002012' versionName='2.12'

The OUK and BOY ROMS come with a very only 1.714

package: name='com.android.vending' versionCode='1714' versionName='1.714'

Where the others come with 2.09.... and that does not follow any sort of logic with the GMS version in the build.prop

package: name='com.android.vending' versionCode='2002009' versionName='2.09'

Hmm, the SIM lock is part of the android.. erm.. OS... anyone with an Orange SIM lock phone want to try the Finish rom and see if it's still SIM locked?

Don't know about that, but when I installed Hungarian Hedgehog on my Finnish Blade, the phone became locked. Unlocking was easy, though.

Well, from the sound of that the Finish ROM is not SIM locked... nice

Anyone one to test that theory out?

You will need a SIM locked phone, and the Finish ROM, and a SIM you did not get with the phone...

I Unlocked my SF while it was on stock rom then flashed it with flb-froyo-blade-r3a and then to MCR r4 (2.1) and then to HedgeHog RLS2 (2.1). It never went to SIM lock state since unlocking.

Unlocking is probably something that gets saved in some NVRAM somewhere. But it looks like the OS is charge of whether it looks at that flag or not before permitting a SIM. So 'all'(!) we need to do now is spot the difference between the Finnish and the closest matching SIM-locking ROM... And/or maybe narrow that down by spotting similarities between the Finnish 2.1 and the 2.2 ROM.

I also noticed that same thing with most of the Roms available here. And even when I put that unlock code the phone thinks all the time that it is roaming (when it is at home network). Weird? Is it possible to fix that? I think that the main problem is different baseband version (EFIN_P729BB0). And also in froyo roms the camera isn't working at all ("cannot connect to camera). Maybe I should make a new topic about these issues..?
