What has happened to Modaco?

Things have gone very very quiet here. I remember back in the day Modaco was at the forefront of windows mobile technology. Modaco was a community where everyone tried to contribute. There were regulars that almost lived on this board. It now seems things have gone a bit cold and 'hospital' sterile.

I hope things pick up with the WM 7 phones being released.

It's all down to people willing to post news stories etc for the front page.

Because there are so many sections because of the number of devices you will find that only a few like the Samsung Omnia sections are busy and most people tend not to explore the reset of the site as they used to in the old days.

Android is a busy part of MoDaCo and it's where Paul generally spends his time so WM is slipping.

WP7 will hopefully bring this side up again and it certainly has potential just need to get the front page going again.

The community is a completely different beast now with ROM creations, before it used to be about homescreens, creating apps or fixes and general day to day questions. Now if you get a problem it's flash this or that ROM rather than try this app or registry entry etc.

How times have changed........ But I'm still here :P

And we still have pleany of people visiting, for example at time of post we have 2695 users active in the past 30 minutes

I think that is the problem, this place has become too much technical and less community.

For example, I remember a long time ago when a poster was stuck at a bus stop and sent a forum message in the lounge asking if someone could post the bus times for his stop. A couple of minutes later, someone did what he had asked. There was a proper community feel.

It's a shame Paul has let the WM section go. He spent so long building it up to what it was.

What scares me is the large number of WM faithful are going in other directions now; iOS, Android and the like. I hope that WP7 grows fast enough to keep some of these good members coming here again.

Yea android stole me away from my omnia, what really blows is that since there is like NO action in the Incredible section i quit coming here altogether. This is/was my first forum experience and modaco will always hold a special place in my heart but i had to move on.

Am staff at a android website with over 5k posts and i owe that to the great experiences i had hear... the community in the omnia sections was GREAT and i really enjoyed my time there. Have seen quite a few users from my days here at my new home, was always pretty cool to see people i 'knew' from here around the web.
