At the risk of demonstrating to one of your parent's mother how to consume the ova of fowls :), some types of memory needs to be read in a certain way -- often this is 16-bit or 32-bit word sizes, rather than simple byte access. No, this thread is about getting output from the serial port which is mentioned here. That is not a jtag itself, its a designated RS232 port. The JTAG ports would be deeper inside the blade...
