HELP .... email is driving me NUTS

Was all OK, howver often find it can take several minutes to compose an email .....

Doesn’t matter if it’s new or reply ... the soft key pad opens .. and response is terrible, press a button can be a up to a minute or more before character appears on screen .

Often a long delay (minute or more)is accompanied by an email arriving .. it returns control to me at that point, but only for a minute or so then just goes into delay mode again.

Is Outlook Exchnage sync freezing email client ?

SWYPE action ceases, can’t press any buttons on keypad.

Often the following error pops up :

SORRY ! Acvtivity Email (in process Email) is not responding. (Force close or wait)

There are times when SWYPE has allowed me to enter 3 or 4 words ... and yet it can be a 30 sec delay before any of them appear on screen.

This is a very significant issue.

Have carried out Hard Reset & cache clear after last update (to 2.2) ... and a cache clear now has no effect.

It appears that the Outlook sync email account is dragging the phones response right down .... anybody any tips of suggestions to fix this.

If you're not averse to flashing with Odin I'd try the JPU firmware and see how it is.

I had this problem on JPK and switched from Exchange to the Gmail app because it was so bad, other users report this is now fixed on JPU.

Corporate email server is an excahnge server so have to sync with that.

Not familair wit JPU firmware does this repace the Samsung on-board firware, but then still run 2.3 FroYo as OS ?

Yep, I realise you'll need to sync with the Exchange app, I was merely mentioning that I had similar problems (bad enough to switch).

JPU is the latest unofficial Froyo firmware from Samsung (Froyo is 2.2 BTW). Much better than the official 2.2, better speed of operation and numerous bug fixes.

OK ... thnx for explanation.

If I install JPU, does that block me in any way form upgrading to next official release via KIEs when Samsung release next version.

My build is currently 2.2 FROYO.XXJPO

It may mean you can't get the official one in Kies, but you'll be able to flash the official one in Odin like you did 2.2.1, so shouldn't matter.
