How 'r3-legend-root' works?

Everybody uses 'r3-legend-root' to root Legend,normally there're three steps, take windows for example: step1-

windows.bat/step2-windows.bat/recovery-windows.bat.

Could andbody explain what's each step for?I could root my Legend,but I dont really got it.
