What we say

I know the screenshots look like a train wreck, but this is one cool widget! Think the stock 'power buttons' widget, but completely customisable with a multitude of settings, with a super-responsive developer and best of all, completely free! Very impressed. ;)

I gave it a try this morning as it looks like exactly what I want. Initial impressions were good. However, I seem to have run into a problem, which might be total coincidence, but I'm really not sure.....

I noticed the option for a reboot to recovery and thought I'd give this a try. I probably did something wrong, but when I rebooted I got to a screen I've not seen before but was then unable tp do anything. No buttons worked, including the volume buttons. All I wanted to do was a Nandroid backup and I thought I was supposed to be in recovery mode to do that. Anyway, I removed the battery and powered up again. This time the phone was sluggish beyond belief, refusing to accept my attempts to input the SIM unlock code. When at last it was responsive enough to allow that I then had problems tring to unlock the phone itself. After a while that too became possible, but once I had the home screen up and running the whole phone was jerky and slow. I used SystemPanel Lite to see what was running and noticed that the CPU was locked at 600MHz and would not back off. None of the user apps appeared to be responsible. I forgot to check system apps. Anyway, no choice but to reboot again and hope that all was well. I uninstalled Widgetsoid and rebooted and thankfully my phone is back to normal.

Like I say, it might be coincidence, but it's worth keeping an eye out for some odd behaviour. Of course, if anyone has any ideas why my phone might have gone nuts otherwise I'd love to hear. I'm running the stock ROM (minus Orange apps) with Superboot and MCRi installed.

EDIT : Reinstalled and all is well.

This is a great little app.

But how can you add a web bookmark shortcut???? Is it possible?

Update: I emailed the developer and he is going to add it to the next release :D

This is a great app, I've been using it for a while and it is updated frequently.

Only problem I have had is that it can lose the config after an update, so make sure you use save the profile so it can be restored after an update if necessary

You can open the widgetsoid app directly and go to edit the widget you currently have in your homescreens and from there you can either modify or save the profile
