Thought this would be interesting, especially as the iPad survey said most people do nothing more than read news/websites on their tablets...

Just wanted you think of the "main" thing you use it for, what's the first thing you think to use on it or why would you pick it up instead of your netbook/laptop...etc

I definitely do most of them but main use is without a doubt general surfing on tinternet.

Same here, although I do a lot of the following:

Facebook/twitter

listen to radio

Stream music from PC

Remote control pc

Games

I can honestly say that of late the majority of recent time has been spent trying to work out how to use Launcher pro, can't work out how to move or remove widgets/shortcuts

regarding widgets/icons .. cant you just long press and hold and drag to the bin or move them?

yes you can do that, sometimes when the vega screen goes funny it will register a "drop" of the widget and with launcher pro that triggers the widget resizing process, just press back and try to move it again.

PDF and ebooks are my thing mainly. It has replaced my laptop as my main Twitter, RSS and browser.

Will be more emulation once I get a decent joypad sorted

Browsing the net and the occasional game mostly. But I use it to remote desktop to my home machine since I can't stand to use a laptop 90% of the time and I use it for pdfs because it handles them faster than my reader. I've also found myself playing a lot of music on it just because its easier to access music from my PC and it pulls double duty as a remote for the PC most days.

All in all I use it for tonnes of things mostly equally.

Hmmm, ordered it after convincing myself I could use it for work and once I get a decent calendar/task list/email I may do that.

Really though... web and games...

I use mine mostly for sheet music. It replaces all my real books, there's hundreds and hundreds of pieces on it. Then tubemate for a tune or two to see how they should be played. :D

I have a few books on Aikido. My OU course books and stuff are on it. Its just replaced my laptop really, if I could find a good wordprocessor that I could type a properly formatted assignment it would be perfect. Still won't be long I imagine.

Mostly for surfing and catching up on news. My Vaga is a "sofa" top device, although did try it today in a meeting for reviewing documents.

Had to admit it worked well with "Documents To Go" and "ES File Explorer" to fetch docs from our local server or my desktop, would be even better if I could mount the shares directly and work on the server disk rather than caching the files locally.

I put a few games on to see them work but in general am keeping that to my HD2 (running Android).

I use my Vega for reading the news from my Google Reader (using Newsrob application which can download the new stories for reading offline), I use it for general browsing whilst on the sofa, I have also set it up with JPGs of my 'portfolios' (comics colouring, lettering etc) so when I go to conventions I can show samples to editors without dragging around a big folder, have found Fish Bowl Photo Viewer Beta great for this.

I also have PDFs of finished stories I've written/lettered/coloured for when people want to see the full published version of my work.

On a similar vein I have comixology, Kindle and Aldiko on it for reading and documents to go (viewer) for use when I present session a the writing group, I can load the word doc straight on and use my tablet.

Hopefully when I get a decent keyboard sorted out I'll be using the gDocs application to do some actual writing on it. ;)

Some interesting results which I kind of expected.... what i was thinking is there is probably a place in the market for a cheaper streamlined Vega which accommodates ONLY web browsing ....

I know there have been things called internet tablets/books/pads/etctect but they always feel the need to cram more stuff in, perhaps a browsing only device would meet quite a lot of peoples needs and not cost as much to produce/buy ... just a thought!

Ash

P.S. - Question to the people using it for reading the news, what apps do you recommend? i currently use Sky News and BBC apps but i really wanted something that would emulate a newspaper, even if I have to pay for each paper like on the Kindle, i don't mind paying the same as what the paper would cost.

Then I say Kindle is the best, although I hear most of the kindle newspapers take hours to be published? I don't yet read my daily papers via kindle so can't comment.

To be honest I still havent quite find a use for it yet.

I do all the items in the poll. having said that .. i like to take this to watch movie rather than hauling a full size MBP to bed to watch ..

There are lots of cheaper less powerful devices on the market at the £100-200 price range that do just that. The vega while technically an internet tablet itself stands out because its got a much more powerful set of hardware driving it than the cheaper internet tablets.

Yeh as i said there are many but not with the screen size of the vega, readin websites on my desire suck enough .... or you get the limited functionality mobile pages ... its not ideal, a streamlined cheaper vega with webkit only might be good?
