Hey guys,

Im new here, i just scored a U8300 for free, and realised its only running 2.1 of android, is quite slow considering even after a reset...

Wondering if anyone knows where i can get the factory rom for it, and how i can incorporate a speedmod or cleanup and remove any excess in the rom?

cheers, and any extra info on how to do any of this be it related somehow would be nice also ;)

well, you can alway use the http://developer.and....com/index.html
theres the "developers kit" you can download ( might be handy to learn adb and superboot)

i suggest you get to know the phone by root it and learn how the system works.
you can root the phone with z4root.1.3.0.apk (google it)
the rootexplorer.v2.10.2.apk give you full access to filesystem r/w

also some apps from http://www.mediafire...rq5iic4db7awt2j  from Sh4d0w940 can be used on the u8300

i also a total noob about android (had mine for a week) its a cheap phone, i use it as a 3g modem through usb.

you could download the rom if you might brick it.. its easy to restore.

success in rooting with z4root (ty for the suggestion)
the app in the mediafire archive aren't working (i tried several but not all) and are impossible to install

i'd like to change the withe/silver notification bar on the top with one black and flat... but i think it is impossible at the moment, tried some metamorph but failed, tried whit framework-res.apk replacing (in rooted with rootexplorer and with reframe.sh method find on xda) but semi bricked my phone, lucky were that the update from original stock rom works (i find it somewhere here on modaco) and now i am at the start point... i hate this white bar...

sorry i forgot to tell, you have to move apps to /system/apps folder in you phone. then it work.. for example PhotoAblumWidget.apk, LiveWallpapersPicker.apk, LiveWallpapers.apk thats not included in my branded u8300. but it work after applied.

you can edit the notification bar by copy  the framework-res.apk from the phone
copy it to sdcard and the to the computer rename it to framework-res.zip

Open the Zip file and go here:
/res/drawable/

Locate these files and unzip them:
statusbar_background.png
status_bar_background.png
status_bar_close_on.9.png
status_bar_header_background.9.png
status_bar_item_background_normal.9.png

edit color you like with your photo software, zip back to framework-res.zip rename back to framework-res.apk , move it back to its original place on the phone.. remember to do backup of your framework-res.apk, if something go wrong..

use the rootexplorer..

Hi Folks,

does anybody know where to get an U8300 (or Spriiing)? I can't find an online shop which ships this device to Germany.

TIA

Greetings

Root  for Huawei u8300 Android 2.1 - 2.3.7:
1)Download *.rar, extract update.zip
2)Copy update.zip to SD-Card
3)Run Clockworkmod
4)Select to "apply update from sdcard"
5)Reboot, Root !
