I was wondering if anyone has a good reliable dlna server on mac that works on the galaxy tab. I have difficulty setting it up. it looks like a really cool system to watch stuff on the tab without having to transfer all the files.

anyway, any tips or tricks?

Hi,

You could use PS3 Media Server which is a Upnp media server not only for PS3
Then, download UpnPlay and Vplayer (Free Trial).
You just have to launch PS3MS on your mac and UPNPlay on the Tab and it works fine. It stream full HD videos, SD content, ... without any problems.

but why not just use the DLNA app on the galaxy tab that is already available, does it not work with that?

PS3MS doesn't works with "All Share" app, i don't know why. This is the only solution i found.

tried it and it works fine... no need to do any setting changes. it just isint very pretty i wish there were a serious DLNA app for mac/linux that i could use and set up a server at home.

but in any case, thank you very much for the advice, no longer need to transfer files to watch on the when at home.

you're lucky or it's because i've made some change in PS3MS config for working better with my PS3.
For me, when i browse the media server with allshare, it writes "no files"...

By the way, DLNA is a great solution to watch stuff on the Tab without transfer anything

no allshare dosent work, it dosent even show me the server, the system you gave works very well.

Ah ok! I think PS3MS team will make some changes to work with All Share app but i'm not sure.
For the moment it works and it's just what i want

You could try the Plex media server that was just released. The Android client isn't free though.

The last time I tried Plex, the OS X server was a useless pile of $#!t. Hopefully it's improved.

Or, do what I do and just use CIFS Manager with custom rom and mount a file share on your device and play the videos with any app you like.

Twonky Server (PC, Mac, Linux) best all round media server I've used. Its not free but has a 30day free trial and well worth £15.
