Hi, I am going to flash the kernel ext4 and new rom for my tab

I have not used odin before and just have a question re pit files. do i have to select a pit file when i use odin 1.7 ?

or do i just select my tar file and leave it to update.

also when i flash the new rom do i unzip it first or do i flash as a zip file.
