CM 6.1.2 (2.2) Screen Calibration

Hi Guys,

I would like to thank the members on this forum for their newbie guides on flashing to Froyo - very helpful :D

Anyway, I have a problem with the touch screen. After a lot of searching around; my understanding is screen calibration isn't possible/provided with CM? A lot of users have used a keyboard calibrator to fix their issues. I've installed Smart Keyboard Trial and calibrated it - this has fixed some issues with the keyboard. My problem is with the general usage of the phone - the screen is about 5mm out of alignment on the top and bottom though fine in the center. Pointer location reports that the Y axis is at -25 when i touch the top of the screen - i guess the phone thinks 0 is the top of the screen.

Are there any work arounds or solutions that i've missed?

My touch screen has been insanely uncalibrated ever since I first installed OpenSwift -- clicking on links near the top or bottom of the screen is practically impossible -- and I've tried using this calibration app on both OpenSwift and SwiftDroid. It does nothing. I've created the data/nv folder (yes, there's a file called "ts_cal" in there now), rebooted several times, tried both pushing and installing the app, all to no avail.

It's possible that my touch screen's defective in one way or another, but I'd imagine there'd still be some sort of noticeable difference after calibrating. I'm more inclined to believe that this app currently does nothing on anything but LG's firmware/kernel; any minor improvement in accuracy some of you are noticing is probably a placebo effect.

This. Exactly the same as me. I just added the nv directory and now have ts_cal, though no change. I don't think i've got defective hardware as the axes on Pointer Location precisely follow the touch screen into the minus figures. Plus this was only a problem the moment i upgraded to CM. Though i would say that the top is by far worse then the bottom. If i get a chance tonight, i will upload a video on youtube showing the extent of the problem.

Bump....

I've tried flashing with CM 7 (2.3), reinstalled the calibration tool with /data/nv directory and it still has the same result.

For now i've gone back to LG's 2.1 where the touch screen calibrates perfectly. Though its soooo slow compared to 2.2 or 2.3 :huh:

Surely somebody knows how to fix this :)

Would be interested to know if anybody else has something similar to that?

I have the same problem.

I guess most GT540's have "standard" calibration settings for their touchscreens. Unluckily for some of us some mobiles have some "deviation" from the factory standard.

I use the "Multitouch Visible Test" app. (Source at: http://www.rbgrn.net/content/367-source-co...h-visible-test)

It tells me that there's a 25px difference at the right edge of the screen.

This is what the "Screen Calibration" app reports:

I'm curious about what other users are experiencing.

Any idea on how can we help solve this problem?
