Hi

I bought this phone for my son and the battery life is really poor. On standby with very little use he is getting about 6 hours!!! This is horrendous, and he has to keep the phone off until he needs to use it. Any tips on improving the battery life? We bought the phone new from Argos in September last year,  and the battery which used to last at least 12 hours has got worse. Its never really been that good, 12 hours would have been with hardly any use. WiFi is off, and data off most of the time, but on 2G when used. Any help appreciated, we are still using the original T-mobile rom.

If it got worse, chances are it was just a defective piece.  Ask Argos to replace it, if they don't, go for a new one off of ebay.

download a task manager and all kill tasks regulary
But i suggest go back to store for warrenty the battery is proberbly deffect

my battery got worse after 9-10 months (need to charge twice daily to prevent flat-out), then just got a battery replacement from ebay. it is working reasonable again.

apparently on the sony ericsson x10 mini pro, i read if you charge from about 5% battery, with the phone off to 100%, it takes longer than if the phone is on and running, but you get a longer life out of it... maybe this could apply to the mini? i have yet to try it because im always using it xD, but see if it works

p.s.

switch off 3g whenever its not in use i find that helps

or perminantly switch to 2g only to save battery and always have internet

reduce the backlight power

my pulse lasts about 11 hours (when not gaming, only texting/ a few calls)

I have sort of given up on the phone at the moment. It drains the battery in a matter of 4 hours with little use. Bought a battery off Ebay, and it does the same with the new battery. 3g off and data off permanently. Drains so bad that even the clock resets! I have tried charging when off, when on and additional charging if turned off when fully charged. Good phone if the battery would last. I have tried different ROMs, the latest by Cedric of XDA, cracking ROM. Tried underclocking to slowest speed, but still the battery drains. I may have a dud phone.

ah yeah maybe, if its still under warranty i would phone them up and tell them its not the battery... so they hopefully take it for re pare or replace it

Hi there, i have exactly the same problem (well at least i did until I just spilt my drink on it :/) try an app called juicedefender, once installed go to the status menu (slide across and select aggressive then scroll down, then ok, this definatly increased my battery life but if it doesn't make a difference then try to get it repaired

Ive not noticed the battery life being bad, im constantly on mine either playing games or with some new app ive downloaded, or on the internet or even listerning to the radio lol id say mine last most of the morning, day [i charge mine at night, not sure if thats a good or bad thing lol

That's normal for high use. You could preserve a bit of battery life by switching to 2G rather than 3G. Try it and see if it makes a difference, if not, switch back.
