Ok, if you go into settings, accounts, you will have your motoblur, google and possibly facebook.  If you have facebook, that could be the gallery issue.

So, if you go into settings, accounts, menu, you will see a tab that says "picture source".  If facebook is listed in your accounts, that could be what's using the data.  I have deleted that account as I am using a different facebook app rather than the social networking app that came with the phone.

Not sure if this will help but will find out soon enough.  Will let you know.
