Guest The Soup Thief
hm. Ignore the question. I see that smart phones dont have GPS capabilities. they need to be online Not so - with google maps you need to be online to get new navigation and mapping data (eg if you turn left somewhere and it needs to recalculate the route, so draw down other map info), however you can calculate your route over wifi and (once you don't deviate from it) you should be ok Alternatively there are clever ways of downloading lots of googlemap data (I forget the name of the hack that does this, but I've never managed to find it) 3rd option - the one I use - is to buy 3rd party navigation software - install 3rd party maps on your phone along with software to use them. Sygic is one such option, others include Igo - search the forums - there's lots written on this But, in short, most smartphones absolutely DO have GPS capabilities - just if you're trying to do this sans data usage you'll need to preload the map data (+/- software to use it)
