hey all

im new to the defy and gotta say im loving it!!!.what i wanted to know is the best way for me to upgrade to 2.2 as ive got it on a contract from t-mobile and really don't want to brick it!!

ive rooted it using superoneclick method with no probs and ive downloaded add.thebad's super defy pack, does the guide work ok with uk T-mobile firmware version 2.1-update1,and build jrdnem_u3_2.51.1?

also is everything working with the 2.2 version in add.thebad's defy pack?

thanks in advance guys

firstly its almost impossible to brick the defy so its hard on the outside and quite tough on the inside too

also my pacage works for uk tmobile thats what im on

however it is now outdated and their are easyer methods

i think you can just flash this download

i should probably update the guide too

flash the nandroid then straight into bootloader

the flash .sbf via rds lite.

any questions ill do my best to help :)

3.4.3_11-Fixed.BLUR.sbf

Motorola_Defy_343-11_Nandroid

but really not sure what to do with them having never done it before

.ive installed rsd lite

haha sorry

put the nandroid on ur sdcard in folders called "goapkrev" and inside that "backup"

ok you need to install clock work recovery from my ultimate defy package

then boot into clock work recovery

choose back up>then select the nandroid

wait for that to do its stuff

then pull battery out

then enter bootloader by holding volume up and power for 5 secs

then connect phone to pc

make sure you have moto drivers and rsd installed

then in rsd lite choose the "3.4.3_11-Fixed.BLUR.sbf" file and click

wait for that to finish and that should be it

if you get a boot loop enter recovery power and volume down for 5 secs you should get a black screen

then volume up and down at the same time

wipe all data

reboot!

that should be froyo!!

you can now install a custom rom ontop of that if you wish

thats from memory but i think that should work

any questions ill try to help

have you backed up your phone original rom? if it finish then you want it to restore the back up for 2.2 that you downloaded(advance , restore then press on system) you put in your phone....then after the restore is done unplug the battery and volume up plus power and plug it to your pc then run the sbf fix from your pc to flash it over and be able to downgrade if im correct,.....i had a deffy 3 weeks ago from tmob too and these guy sorted me out.

Hello I have been following this thread with interest - thanks for all the guidance.

I found I needed to put the nandroid backup in a folder called \clockworkmod\backup for the restore option to see it.

Then all went well - I am now playing with 2.2

im loving it,its smooth and why the f**k don't moto make it official,it works a dream!!

tho the only thing i am struggling to suss out is the bluetooth file transfer, under 2.1 i could send apk's with no probs but now it says that the device doesn't support this type of transfer..

yeah ive found that you need to download an app called bluetooth file transfer from the market and use that

and i agree it is so much smoother and Motorola are dicks for not getting their ass in gear and shipping with this!!

Another vote for moto getting a digit out. 2.2 rom seems better all round - roll on the official release.
