Another cooked ROM! For Gen 2 only...

Taking the best elements of KK's Swedish Spring SS3/4, adding unrandomsam's Softbank kernel and updating various Apps and Libs yields this no-nonsense 127MB ROM
  • AOSP Contacts/MMS etc
  • No CPU fiddly bits
  • No HW accel
  • No Stagefright
  • Updated G Apps
  • Updated APNS-conf, GPS-conf and more
  • ondemand governor, 122.88MHz min at idle
  • Battery Circle mod, enhanced autobrightness
  • New boot animation
Works very well, boots quickly, fast and smooth. Car Home/Nav particularly snappy...

Try it...

So this is based on the Swedish Spring? or the Comviq Stock ROM?

Finally realised how bad JJ was? :)

Just kidding, this looks like a good ROM, on my list of ones to try!

Orange San Francisco Black OLED Gen2
SanDisk 16GB Class 2 SD
Recovery: ClockworkMod 4.0.1.5
System: Simple Stir Fry Full b27

lol!

been running it against an SS4 build all day and it seems fine. Something interesting about it. Not sure what, as yet. TBC

Meanwhile, scrapping Ubuntu 11.04 Beta and reinstalling 10.10.... something whacky going on.

Nice Work!

Any aspects from JJ here (or am I being dim?)

I never really got along with swedish spring or JJ - I don't know why O.o

And as much as I like Ubuntu - Something went horribly wrong with partitions on my hard disk after ubuntu couldn't mount properly :L

And XP seems to run faster on my pc than ubuntu 10.10...

Actually CM7, libril-qc-1.so and libcm.so - works a treat. apns-conf.xml also from CM7. framework-res is my own brew, as is gps-conf, init.athwlan.sh, init.qcom.post_boot.sh and build.prop

Nothing from JJ - only the later Softbank kernel as Japanese "name".

Ubuntu 11.04 ./bash keeps "forgetting" my PATHs... having to add perl ...... is a pain in the anular. 10.10 was OK, and splitting boot.img was no problem.

No overclock is not necessarily a drawback - the sub-title is intended to set the scene. I also alluded to the fact that Car Home/ G Nav worked extremely well, which it does. As far as I'm concerned, GPS is fine.

Could you make a GEN1 version?

Unlikely, I'm going to focus on a Gen 2 version of FLB (true following) and a remix of SS RLS5.

This is a good ROM though! SS3 wins...

Nah - this is a pure phone ROM

I'm interested in usability feedback though.

I've Installed it yesterday and it is stable so far. The APN-Settings for my provider are locked (grayed out), but I was able to edit them using "APN Manager" from the market.
