Modaco on Point of View Mobii 10.1 - GPS issue

Hi!

I have successfully installed Modaco ROM into my Mobii Tegra 10.1. Everything is wonderful (thanks a lot).

However, one small issue. GPS activation checkbox is disabled in my System Settings. Is this a known issue? Is there a fix for that?

Mobii Tegra 10.1 has 3G and GPS built in, and since this ROM is Vega based, im guessing there are some hardware differences?

Any idea?

Thanks in advance!

You can try the official ROM from Mobii mixed with some enhancements like a fast kernel (CorvusKernel 0.2), MMS/SMS application installed, NTFS filesystem support ==> Ganbarou V0.3b. I couldn't get my GPS to work, but other users of my ROM reported that it worked for them.

If you are still having issues after your ROM update I would advise you to check this topic out as there may be a few tips you can try especially the fix mentioned in post 78 which works whether you have a Wayfinder GPS Receiver or not I believe.

Thanks for the tip, however the Mobii GPS is not that one...guess i will really have to install this other ROM. What about Cyanogen? Someone tried a stable build in a Mobii?

I try CM7 everyday when a new nightly build is available, but still 3G is not working.

About overclocking, I set my tablet to 1GHz (no overclocking) as the CorvusKernel is fast enough with normal settings and OC is imho only for benchmarking.

I know it is not the same GPS but try installing the GPS on/off widget and turning it on before loading Maps. It'll only take 5 minutes and it has sorted a lot of peoples problems out.

Your ROM worked like a charm for me. Everything PERFECT, great job.

2 very small issues:

- Activate 3G + GPS->Reboot->Need to reactivate them again? Is this a bug or a feature?

- Gallery fails while creating a wallpaper out of a image. Gallery app or ROM related?

The rest is just awesome. Thank you very much!

PS: Missed the Live wallpapers tho. Any way to get them with your ROM?

3G and GPS on after reboot is fixed in next release.

I removed live wallpapers because I never use them, maybe I make a update.zip to flash them for the people who needs them.

Didn't know the Gallery wallpaper issue, I use the quickpic normally. Will try to fix it.

The update would be appreciated, but i can perfectly live without live wallpapers.

So now i will need to skip the Overclocking (i believe you recommended somewhere an app for this) and wait for your next release for the 3g+GPS fix after reboot.

In any case, thank you again. Where can i keep updated about your releases?

Liebe Grüße!

You can get SetCPU from XDA-developers forum to set your frequency to max of 1GHz. I run mine between 216MHz (idle) and 1GHz. That saves some battery too.

To get info about new updates you can follow me on twitter -> beegee1962, check my thread here for the Ganbarou ROM or check my homepage.

At the moment I am playing with ROM Manager and ROM Updater and try to get my updates listed there, so they can be downloaded and flashed from there.

Gelotron, can you do me a favor? If you have Root Explorer installed, can you tell me what you see in /dev/ ? Still trying to get my Huawei GPS to work.

Sorry to bother you guys with this most likely uber noob question, but will i be able to flash the VegaComb on a POV Mobii or is it a no no?

I thought that both devices share the same hardware hence me buying one when i started to see some HC ports coming out for Vega. Was i wrong assuming that or they do share same hardware and that way they both run same roms?

I see that i have a good rom to test by beegee so I wont be too upset, but I would like some clarification if possible on this matter.

Thanks for your answers.

You should be able. However not sure if GPS will work with that one. Thats why i switched to BeeGee´s ROM from a Modaco ROM

I would give HC some time...while then, BeeGee´s ROM works like a charm. PoV promised to release a soft update for HC, so it will be just a matter of time to get a PoV ROM customized. Probably beegee will try that one too...

BeeGee I am software developer myself. I have absolutely no experience with Android, but if you can point me to some references/material to learn, i might be able to help somehow in a bit time...
