Hi, if there's anyone out there that's eagerly awaiting the HTC Desires upcoming official Gingerbread release, I was in a LiveChat with one of HTCs customer service department and I got a little bit more information than I had on this update already, I just thought I would share this information with everyone on these forums that may be curious as I was.

Jason:  The update for the Desire will be the same for the Desire HD but it will be for the Desire device.
Jason:  And it should be released before the end of June.
barry scott:  does it come with the latest compatible version of the HTCs Sense UI? And will the device be listed on HTCsense.com?
Jason:  It comes with Sense 2.1
Jason:  and regarding htcsense.com We don't actually have any information on that at this time.
barry scott:  ok, just one more question if that's ok?

barry scott:  is the update going to be pushed out for all devices at the same time? Because as I'm sure you're aware, the Desire HD, only Vodafone customers got the update to begin with, my device is unbranded, does this mean I will be waiting longer or around the same time?
Jason:  Unbranded customers will be receiving the update first. And then the branded customers

Sounds promising, but I'll believe it when I see it. No doubt the RUU will leak before release

Well, there already has been a ROM leaked for the HTC Desire, gingerbread one, which doesn't have the new Sense UI, however, that leak was quite some time ago, I doubt that if they had a working ROM like that they'd need this much time to push it out to Desire users, so maybe the new Sense UI is precisely the reason they're taking their time to release it to the Desire handsets...

Probably not likely but one can always hope I guess! :-)

I knew that we'll get a GB update but I suspected that they'll use the old Sense so this is good news indeed. And I'm glad I've noticed this because I planned to flash a new GB+Sense rom tomorrow. Now I'll wait for an official version.

I know there's a leak, I'm using my own ROM based on it!!

I'm just saying, regaridng new Sense, I'll believe it when I see it

Aaah, apologies for the misunderstanding there, I thought you were on about the OS as a whole, yes, due to the leak of the 2.3 official version, it doesn't look like we're going to get the new Sense UI, although, it's definitely possible since they say that the ROM will be the same as the Desire HD, except for Desire, they've got plenty of time to add the Sense 2.1 onto the existing leak since they claim it's not out till June.
