Titanium Backup not working [SOLVED]

I know a lot of you use Titanium Backup (TB) and wonder if you've encountered the issue I only noticed today. Normally TB chugs along in the background making backups of my apps etc. so I can restore them if I need to. Today however I happened to click on the app icon and got the following error message.

"Error - Sorry I could not acquire root privileges. This application will *not* work! Please verify that your ROM is rooted and includes BusyBox and try again."

This seems to have gone wrong since 12/5/11 (when I believe a TB app update from the Market may have been installed) and gone un-noticed by me till now. It asks to check the device is ROOTED but not sure of the best way to confirm that so clicked on Superuser icon and it showed the apps ClockSync, Root Explorer & TB as having permissions. Tried unchecking TB in Superuser (on the assumption it would reappear when run again) and entry vanished. Tried Root Explorer to see if any similar error messages would indicate ROOT had been lost but nothing. Re-installed TB BusyBox whatever that is and still no joy.

Checked the TB version and it was 3.6.7.1 and looking at the Changelog within TB that seemed to be rather old so I've been to the Market and installed 3.8.3 and tried that but get the same error message. So now I'm a bit stuck and would welcome any suggestions short of re-flashing which would be a pain. Thanks

Sorry no solution, I know.

Quick update. Installed an app called 'Root Check' and was told that I don't have root access :D then ran the advanced root check option and it says:-

Root Access is not properly configured or was not granted.

Standard su binary location:

/system/bin/su: No such file or directory

Alternate su binary location:

/sbin/su: Permission denied

SU binary not found in the system declared PATH

P.S> It did say that Busybox v1.16.0 was installed correctly though. Small comfort

The /system/bin folder is definitely there but the 'su' file has disappeared. Could someone else check their Vega and see if there normally is a file called 'su' in that folder please?

I did however find this file in a folder called /system/xbin and I was toying with the idea of just copying into /system/bin and see what happens does this sound a good idea folks ?

By the way I'm running kernel 2.6.32.9_MCK_r2 and ROM r7 and the SuperUser App & Fixer have been installed OK.

You won't do any harm by copying it. It's just an executable command (Switch User). You can test by installing a temrinal emulator from the market and typing su

It should ask you for the root password - the value of which I know not :D but the point is, if it asks, it's OK...

Hi Trevor

Sounds like your rooting has gone doolally. SU is the executable used to grant root access to processes. Try this:

It should put it all back for you..

Thanks Simon ... the Z4Mod tool managed to fix it nicely! Gawd knows how it got itself in that state now my Dolphin Browser HD is playing up (thinks it's on a phone) so gonna try and sort that out. Thanks again would've taken me forever to find that tool :D

Simple question:

After doing two backup of an app with TB, have I got the choice to choose which backup I intend to restore or does it overwrite on the last back up?

I'm trying to restore a game score but all I get is zero and do not see any option.

Thanks

Think it depends if you have the FREE or PAID FOR version of TB. Beleive the FREE one just overwrites whereas PAID version can store multiple backups of apps etc.
