Purchased this weekend the official docking station... Mind blowing !!! Take this:

- blue LED lit up on the lower border to allow perfect allignment with the dock (surprised to see it there)

- concurent USB mouse and keyboard for PERFECT typing/ browsing at home

- plus external usb storage through the third USB port

- plus HDMI port conected to my 55'' LED TV

- plus audio output (did not use this one much as I use a bth headset)

- 30 pounds... must have

Why would you ever use your netbook or ipad?

Only touched my wife's iPad2 for 2 hours, no match for a Reeeeal transformer like Vega + its docking station

If you dock the screen to a TV with HDMI, can you use it with the Vega screen off?

In all fairness haven't tried this yet... will do and let u know...

You can using these commands:

Only tablet

/system/bin/nvdmmultidisplay --lcd

Only HDMI

/system/bin/nvdmmultidisplay --hdmi

Tablet and HDMI working together

/system/bin/nvdmmultidisplay --lcd_hdmi

Other commands are here:

http://bb2k.org/folio100wiki/index.php/Multiple_Display

Create scripts using GScript from the market, and make shortcuts for easy switching between the screen, TV/Monitor, or both (mirroring):

https://market.android.com/details?id=nl.rogro.GScriptLite

EDIT: I made a mistake with the Tablet and HDMI command... It's fixed now.

The docks vanished again.

It was listed for online ordering only but seems they cleared out the remaining stock at a guess.

Great codes, thats fantastic.

Personally I don't think that the dock is worth the money. You have an hdmi output on the vega and could use a hub if you wanted more usb outs.

I thought like you until I tried it... but it may be of little value to a heavy travel usage profile. One nice thing is that with the dock you don't need to reboot in slave mode to use USB peripherals... it just works instantly. Same with USB storage

I may be being really stupid here but i bought one yesterday and my normal wired mouse and keyboard from my main computer don't do anything, am i missing something? Do you need an or change something in the settings? Also do the devices need to meet some kind of compliance? They are old, like 5 years old but work with windows 7. Maybe i need to engage something for it to work. Appreciate any suggestions. Thanks guys. Lj

with the Vegacomb 1.6 rom, when it detects an usb keyboard connected to the dock, the system hides automatically the sw keyboard giving you access to the full page... sweet!

searched hi&lo didn't find it!

Well no you wouldn't. They've sold out.

There may be the odd one in a shop but then the website would offer the reserve and collection option then tell you

if it was possible from your local store so I suspect they've all gone.

PC World in Doncaster has them in stock. Just spotted them.

Hmm how far is it from Somerset to Yorkshire ? :)

On the plus side it seems the Viewpad 10 docking station is the same device.

On the negative side that's either not in stock or ordered on demand so one wonders

if the device has been discontinued.

Managed to purchase a dock today in Currys Falkirk (even further from Somerset sorry :) ).

Initially I was met by quizzical and rather gormless looks from the staff when I asked if they had any in stock. Was amused and somewhat perplexed to note that their first attempt at finding it was to do a Google search which brought up this thread. After a bit of perseverance by a more knowledgeable and helpful member of staff they determined that they had one in stock and I am now typing this on my external keyboard via the dock.

The DSG internal item code is 419767 which they found by doing a text search on "ADVENT DOCK" on their internal DSG system. Looking at the local stock I noted that there were more than 10 in Glasgow and a couple each in PC World in Stirling, Kirkcaldy and East Kilbride (a little nearer to Somerset...).

Seems that even though the on-line option to purchase has gone for the moment if you ask your local Currys/PC World store to do a check on item 419767 then you may be in luck.
