I was seriously considering getting one of these tablets until I read what the final specs will be like

If it was £129 for the capacitive screen then yes it would be good value

However today I spotted this - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/271191

Dual core 1Ghz tablet with 2.2 and capacitive screen for £169.97

running 2.2 with a crap skin and unresponsive touch screen.... sigh.

Look how slow and unresponsive the Blade was when it came out first, now it's one of the very best phones out there and gone from 1.1 to 2.3.4

I reckon if you let some of the devs at it, the Hanspree could be an excellent device.

CF the Advent Vega - very weak when it landed at Dixons but reborn with a series of warmed over ROMs

What I don't get - and this debate is probably all over a corner of the internet I haven't found - is why tablet / screen manufacturers are so obsessed with 16:9 aspect ratio. I find it a massive waste of their pixels and my visual field - I know it's a widescreen TV hangover (and there's another bit of stupid, IMHO) but in my list of things to do with a Tablet, watching films is way down the list - browsing t'internet and gaming would be well above, neither of which are particularly more suited to 16:9 than 3:2 or 4:3, either of which would be preferable

Ask Apple - they reputedly did loads of user research on the different ratios and came up with (i think) 4:3 (don't get me wrong, I dislike Apple kit as much as the next man, but they got this bit right I reckon)

Anyway, back on topic - Hannspree - hasn't it been out a little too long with too little interest to be a contender? And that review was pretty damning. Why do tablet manufacturers release kit without Android Market? Foolish

How about an Lenovo 7" with 1Ghz cpu, Android 2.3 and capacitive screen for £125?

http://bit.ly/riLUzh

It won't be £125. No UK price has been announced and it'll be $199 in the USA excluding local taxes. I expect it to be around £179 in the UK including VAT.

The Lenovo is lower spec that the AndyPad pro. 2Gb storage and 1GHz CPU vs 16Gb storage and 1.2GHz CPU with native 720p decoding? Rather have the AndyPad.

Of course if the Lenovo was a Tegra2 then it would be excellent value.. but it's not :(

The Lenovo has a gps which makes it far more desirable.

There is also the archos G9 (Coming soon) for about £200.

If the andypad pro was £129 it might be worth it but not for £179.

Unfortunately this runs a very dated CPU. Same one as ZTE blade. This would struggle with 3D gaming and definitely unable to do any HD or flash video. Screen res is too low as well at only 800x480. 3G is nice though.
