Hi,

I just bought a used phone that has been modified through instructions on this site.  I have a different phone service provider and the phone is still locked to Bell (Canada).  So I tried to get it unlocked on an internet based unlocking service ... but they could not recognize the phone's firmware and could not unlock it.  When I emailed them to ask why their response asked if it had the "official firmware."  Therefore I think if I can roll back to the official firmware I can still get the phone unlocked.

So I'm looking for help to roll the phone back to it's original (or at least "official") firmware.  It is a Samsung Omnia 2 (i8000L).  Is there a link to a very comprehensive set of instructions? I'm a newbie with very limited knowledge but can follow written/ video instructions.

BTW - I tried the hard reset but the modified os reinstalls.

FYI- the installed OS is "HTC Leo" by "energy" that puts features of the HTC on the samsung.  Love the OS but need to unlock the phone much more than I need the cool features of the HTC.

Any help would be appreciated.

UPDATE 7/18/11

Been researching.  Found newbie link with good instructions, but still have a question.
link - http://sites.google....english#produkt

did the "preparation steps" a - g and the "windows 7" user steps.

opened "Octans v2.14" and loaded the .csc file, .mst file and .bin file as prompted.
chose language - English (UK) -------- [English (US) was not available]
and tried to load csc for Canada - I8000BMCJA5.csc but it was not available.

My question(s) - this seems like it's the European JA5, is there a n.american included version so that I can load the Bell Media Canada csc and then possible be able to unlock the phone as a end result?  Do I need to do all this to unlock phone?  Will this even work?

At this point I fear screwing up the phone if I continue and still not being able to unlock.

Anyone?????

Update 2 7/19/11

Found the exact ROM my phone used to have put into a "dump" by 'touchprogeek' (thank you very much for making this available!!!!!)

downloaded and unzipped with 7zip.

now i'd like to "flash" this to my i8000l with hopes that once has official fw can be unlocked.  But being a noob, I still haven't figure out how to take a ROM dump and restore it.

Anyone???
