There's plenty of info on rooting over at XDA Developers, try this link..

I think someone should do one on here. Just looked at your link. Too many kernels to choose from lol. Seems complicated

Rooting wasn't that bad...just did it, wasn't going too but there's just to much crap loaded (accuweather, yahoo finance) that I don't want or need.
You just need the 2nd link drobson posted, download odin from that thread, goto task manager stop anything with Kies in front of it (change to see all applications by all users).
The 3rd and 4th posts contain the one file you need, match it downloaded and unzip it, so you have a tar file.
Then reboot phone into download mode (vol-d + home)+power, click vol up to ok the nice warning.
Open odin, press the pda button and select the tar...then press start.
watch it, wait for phone to reboot and you should then see superuser in your apps...done!

If there were two of you, which one would win?

Install any chainfire kernel that is "near enough" the version you're running using Odin.
Reboot.
Your phone is now rooted.
Now reboot into recovery and flash the MCR firmware .ZIP.

Hi, do you get the yellow warning traingle on boot from following this root process? Just want to be sure before doing it.
Also confused which file version of download as I have kernel version XWKE1 / 2.635.7-I9100XWKE1-CL181974
I guess KE2 would be the nearest?

i've followed your steps and successfully rooted my SGS2 with CF-Root-SGS2_XX_OXA_KH3-v4.1-CWM4. do i need to run the SuperClick to complete the root? i read from one of the forum and it says need to run the Superclick after finished with Odin..

I'm sure rooting my Desire back in the day was easier! What's the jig?
I've prepared myself with a download of the official firmware, the KG2 unsecure firmware and Odin. Plus I'm about to bake a free MCR!
EDIT: http://forum.xda-dev...d.php?t=1075278 - this guide says to then flash the stock to then remove the yellow triangle?
EDIT: Went for it. I can put up with that yellow triangle for how often I reboot the phone! Just downloading MCR ready to update.

Is it possible to return to full stock with no cwm or custom kernel? I asume the nandroid backup includes the custom kernel from cf-root and cwm.
