Guest almighty15 Posted July 23, 2011 Report Share Posted July 23, 2011 I have the chance to trade my ZTE Blade for an Xperia X10 but I'm put off by a few things. 1. Is the screen response as bad as review make it out to be? 2. The screen, Is it going to be a big drop in quality compared to my OLED Blade? 3. ROM support, My Blade has access to so many ROM all the way up to 2.3.4 but looking here there's not as much choice. 4. Lag, Some reviews have pointed out that although it has a 1Ghz processor compared to my Blades 600Mhz processor that it can be quite slow and laggy at times. Guest doomed151 Posted July 23, 2011 Report Share Posted July 23, 2011 (edited) 1. It's barely noticeable. It's worse if you stay on the stock kernel with the 30 FPS cap. 2. Just like the usual LCD. Not as good as the usual 16M ones but it's enough. 3. Not as much as the Blade has. As for now, every Gingerbread ROM for X10 doesn't have camera / camcorder properly working (8.1 MP and 720p recording that is). We won't know what will happen when SE releases the official GB update. 4. On stock ROM and kernel, yes. On custom ROMs + kernel, everything flies; like how a 1 GHz phone should be. Very fast, unlike the Blade, Angry Birds doesn't lag at all even on the most complex levels. Also, CM7 for X10 is not as good as Blade's. Guest pendentes Posted July 24, 2011 Report Share Posted July 24, 2011 I also have a ZTE Blade and a X10, and although i like the ZTE very much (small price for a great phone) i wouldn't trade the X10 at the moment for the ZTE. Using a fully working 2.2 ROM (like wolfbreak's TW009) + custom kernel (Goro 3.62 for example), the X10 just flies compared with the ZTE Blade. One point in favour of the ZTE is the 512MB Ram against the 286MB of the X10. But it doesn't make a huge difference in real use in most of the applications. What it does though is the processor speed and GPU, the screen size, the uncapped FPS courtesy of the custom kernel, which makes using the phone a real pleasure, enjoying a movie, playing great games withou lag, etc. Don't get it wrong...the X10 is really much faster if used with a custom kernel, no lag and so much smotther than the ZTE Blade. ARMv6 vs ARMv7 with NEON, you know what it means ;) And yes, there are quite a few fully-working Froyo ROMs. Edit: About kernels, 2.6.35 is in the works. OC kernels are available, up to 1.2 GHz, though they are unstable. The ones that OCs up 1.1 GHz are quite stable. I have both phones, ZTE Blade is nice for the price but no comparison to the x10, especially with "gingerbread" out on it now. So yeah, get it! I had a blade and got the x10 because of the camera, and have never looked back. It looks great, I had ewjet custom rom and it worked great, recently upgraded to ginberbread and I love it.
