Hey, when a way to unlock the phone does come out, were will it be posted.

I rang up local orange store today they have 2 in stock for 149 plus the 10 top up! will buy one as soon as theres a way to unlock it

Try romdump first. If romdump doesn't work ... then try rooting it with kallt kaffe's modified z4root, then use adb shell, or an android terminal emulator to enter the following command

tar -cvf /mnt/sdcard/system.tar /system/

Then copy system.tar off your sdcard.

Or you could try using a gen2 zte blade version of clockworkmod.

Try Gingerbreak - http://forum.xda-dev...d.php?t=1044765 (may not work either, but looks worth a try).

I assume fastboot mode with vol+ at power on doesn't work either?

Gingerbreak does not work.
I have not tried adb  I did not have time to install it on my laptop
Also the free blade unlock calculator does not work either.

looks like rooting this is going to be a problem, i guess most rootkits so far have been for 2.1 not 2.3, what about Universal Androot?

Just pull all the partitions with QPST (Download mode - Likely hold on both volume buttons).
Thenuse the v880 tool to flash the modified boot.img if you are careful.

Cannot see how its likely to be a real problem in any sense of the word.
(Compared to motorola bootloaders / HTC bravo 1.02.001 etc).

I will buy it a soon as theres a way to unlock it cos i dont get 3g where i live on orange. currently using zte blade, AWESOME phone. hope the SKATE is better hope someone creates an algorythm soon and i hope someone gets it rooted too

universal androot doesnt work with my zte blade with android 2.3.5 so i dont think it will work with the monte carlo (SKATE)
