I've finally managed to use fastboot to customise my splash screen image.  My question is why do I have to wrap the image to the left by 40 pixels (and shift up by 1 pixel) before turning it upside down in my image editor?

It seems like the centre of the image is at 200 pixels from the left rather than 240 (as the screen  is 480w x 800h).

I believe that the upside down bit is due to the screen physically being upside down on the phone - but what about the shifting bit ?

you're using a raw rgb565 image rather than a bmp rgb565 image. it expects the first 40 bytes (or something like that) to be the bmp header. so there are a few pixels missing from the top line & it makes the rest of the image wrap. if you save your image as a rgb 565 bmp file (The GIMP image editor can do that) then you don't have that problem, or you could just add any data to the start of the file to pad it.

Thx for the heads up.  I needed to add 70 bytes worth of bitmap header info to the start of the raw RGB565 bitmap file (which equates to the 35 pixel shift I was observing).  Splash screen image is now perfect !
