Flashing error - dead phone

When i was flashing a new ROM my X10 decided that it was time for a reboot and cancelled the ongoing flash operation (xrec)

Now my phone is not booting up, not charging the way it is supposed to.

When i connect the charger to the phone the led lights up (green) but turns of after about 30 second. When i pull the charger out after the led has turned of and put the plug back in the phone nothing happens. This morning when i tried it again the LED blinked (red) for a minute or two and the switched to green light. And as usual the green light turned of after a couple of seconds (...and nothing happens)

I can get the phone in to flash mode by pulling the battery out and starting it with the back button pressed. It starts flashing trough flashtool but i get an flashing error at "kernel.sin". Loader.sin seems to flash ok but it takes a very long time.

I have tried several generic (SE) versions and SEUS. SEUS tells me that i already have the latest version???

Any ideas?

Can you boot into Xrecovery?

People will advise you not to, but if everything is failing, I have found that going into xrec and formatting EVERYTING (i.e. /system) will allow you to reflash the phone with 2.1 generic, and then you can root and reload xrec. just remember when flashing 2.3 to flash the rom, then pull the battery out and flash the baseband.

edit, just make sure you download the rom + ftf bundle in one and flash all of it if you follow this method

and just to clarify, i don't mean factory reset, i mean format the /system directory :)

When SEUS does so, you can click "Update anyway"... something like that, to force the reset despite this message.

Try using flashtool to flash the generic Sony Ericsson X10i_2.1.A.435_GLOBAL-GGL GENERIC 1232-9897.ftf rom

This is the version that has gave me the best results. Although I have never stopped a rom installing halfway.

If that doesn't work you could try unpacking the ftf and removing kernel file. So basically it hopefully will flash all but the kernel file.

Sorry, can´t boot at all :(

Did you try it with SEUS or PC Companion???

I can´t use SEUS repair/update because it´s telling me that i already have the latest version.

No, just gives me the "ok" box and i´m back to the start menu.

I´ll try the global one and get back to you! :)

Remove the battery. Connect the charger. Then insert the battery while the charger is connected. Keep it about 2 hours no matter what happens. Then try flashing again.

Good luck !

Hi,

i had a similar problem a while back. i used a tool called: XIOFUB.rar but for the life in me cant remember where i got it from. It managed to flash the phone back to android 1.6 and from there it was flashable again.

Hope it helps.

My suggestion is you make a Debranding, which is to literally destroy everything in the unit, and return to factory state, Android 1.6 and everything.

Follow the link I used to do the Debranding. If you can not download, browse theForums X10 Debranding a procedure ...
http://alisomelo.blogspot.com/2010/11/debrangind-tutorial-e-atualizacao-1.html
Sounds scary, but I have done this on my 3 times to flash rom in the procedureand miss!

Unfortunately, the tutorial that I have is in Brazilian Portuguese, but I think it via Google Translator you should be able to read without problems.

Going to try this guide if i can get the phone to charge.

update:

The phone led blinks red now when i connect the charger and goes to green after a while. The green led turns of after a minute or two after it switched from red to green.

When i try to start the phone it just blinks red from the led.

question?:..

When i connect the charger to the phone, with no battery in the phone, the led turns green is it supposed to do this?

As posted, i´m starting to think my battery is the problem.

Hey i had the exact same problem, but it was because the battery wasnt charging in offline mode, i was worried because i didnt have enough charge to flash, So then i took the battery out, plugged in the charger and held the back button in then put the battery back in and what do you know? the battery started to charge again, i then left it in for a few hours and was then able to flash a new rom, give it ago :)
