I know everything is subjective, but I'm finding my screen a bit dull unless the brightness is cranked right up. The whites are a dirty grey colour at anything below maximum brightness. I am currently running the phone brightness slider at 4/5 and white is still not white!  Compared to my Dell Streak which is set at 50% I have to run at max for a similar result.

Is anyone else finding this?  Also on occasion my screen has some strange feint lines that appear when a finger is dragged from the bottom of the screen (for the first inch), then they fall back to the bottom... very strange? This is most noticeable in Google Market, but shows up in a few other things. This was the case before root and Clockworkmod.

Mine looked fine from the very beginning even with half brightness - the way Orange set it. I didn't even notcie the brightness was low until I went through all the settings.

Never heard of that before, but this is my first Gingerbread device. I'll upload a pic or vid when I can, then maybe you can confirm that for me?

I've wiped off all the Orange crap and am using Beautiful Widgets, Launcherpro and Zedge for wallpapers. When Frankish flogs enough stuff on ebay, and gets himself a Skate, I think we will see plenty of themes coming along.

I get that too but that's not what I am seeing elsewhere. If I open Google Market and on the first page that comes up scroll right to the bottom. Then slowly drag my finger up from the centre button loads of lines appear, up to one inch on the screen, then they fall away.

That does sound like the overscroll still. It's an adaptive effect, if you drag your finger and hold it, it will stay put 'til you let go. If you slowly drag, it slowly rises (or lowers).

Although if it's lines you're seeing, it might not be rendered correctly, much like early Gingerbread ports were.

Hopefully you will see what I mean... OMC lines on screen

Could somebody confirm or otherwise this is  normal, or that I'm holding a duffer!

That is definitely overscroll. However the OMC has a reported 16million colour display so it shouldn't look all broken-gradient like it does on 65k devices (which is how it was on the HD2, I turned off the effect in the end because it looked so tacky!), it should be a fully fluid, smooth look.

Not sure how you can disable it on stock OMC though.

Nearly there then, it's amazing what you can find to shove on ebay once you have a new project in your sights. I was lucky and got a free one by agreeing to keep my daughters Blackberry account for another 24 months (which I intended doing anyway).

Can't wait to see some of your tweaks, once you're on-board!
