Love this site and (still!) visit alot but is it me or does the site take an age to load pages?

Old version was much speedier...am using FF6 and have 22Mbit/sec connection...pages still take about 4 secs to load up..even page scrolling is noticeably jerkier.

Almost like caching is turned off somehow.

Is it me..must say a big Thankyou to Paul and the mods for a great resource.

You can also select different skin. It's in the menu on the right -> Useful links -> Skin and language -> simple.

I use it because I think it's a bit more light weight (=faster) and much clearer because of the light colored background.

Yes, its slow but I think Konstat has put the finger on this, by changing the skin to simple, it does seem to make it faster

Yeah its quicker I'll grant you but even so still like stuck in treacle compared to the old site...such a pity..looks better but considerably less useable...thats progress for you

In index pages, you can speed up (or actually avoid the jerkiness of) scrollig by holding your mouse cursor away from the topics. This is because ff picks up every "mouse-over/mouse-out" event on the way.. and it is just a waste of resources.

I really don't like the simple mode
I prefer this one and slower

Simple layout is much faster... no more struggling with laggy modaco.
