Which micro SD cards can I use in my OMC?

I want to buy a 8GB micro sd card, i've checked on E-bay, some are 'micro SDHC' cards, will this work in the Skate? I am currently using a 'micro SD card'...not a 'mirco SDHC card', what is the difference? Thanks.

You can have (micro)sdhc-cards with less than 4GB, but you can't have (micro)sd-cards (non-sdhc) with more than 4GB. That's because sd-cards are formatted with FAT16 (which can't address more than 4GB) while sdhc-cards are formatted with FAT32 (a filesystem that can address up to 32GB).

The next step towards larger capacities is sdxc, which can address up to 2TB. These cards will be formatted with exFAT.

for me (I'm not from UK) these are the cheapest sandisk micro sdhc:

8gb

http://www.ebay.co.u...=item3f0a7894b5

16gb

http://www.ebay.co.u...=item3f0b87fd96

be careful when buying sd cards from ebay as there are a load of fakes, i only buy from top rated sellers...

also a class 4 card should be the minimum as i hear any thing below will not work in smart phones. i could be wrong though huh.gif

Wow...I never knew what class 2,4 and 6 meant and didn't even know about it haha, I will buy the 8GB class 6 card, thanks Tillaz...helpful as always :)

Here is some info on Skate, it shows which memory card can be used, thought I would post it anyway: http://www.ADVERT LINK REMOVED.com/phones/ZTE-Skate_id5696

I just bought this card, only because its class10 and it says 'Silicon power' on it  and because Tillaz posted it: http://www.ebay.co.u...984.m1439.l2649

  • 1 month later...

Has anybody tried a 32GB memory card with skate?

I've got free £25 paypal credit to burn on ebay ;)

I would never buy an sd card off ebay too many fakes on there.

there are some big ebay memory sellers with good writeups...just have to read through and find the correct sellers..

SO, nobody tried 32GBs with their skates yet...?

The Lexar class 6 32GB works on the blade. (I find it unlikely the Skate has worse 32GB SD CARD support).

Best cards to buy at moment are the Samsung class 10's from play.com (Or perhaps *were* dunno if the vat change law happened yet).

(I have a PNY class 10 that needs to be sent back wouldn't buy from them again - and it performs like a Lexar class 4).

Why buy from Ebay when Amazon or play.com is far easier to tell whether its genuine and probably pretty similar price wise.

(Too many dishonest people on Ebay - I only use it when there is no other option).

Even going for the absolute cheapest price - Amazon Marketplace or the Play equivalent is far safer.

(Junk sellers get booted out very quickly - someone trys to scam they will just refund you).

Hey all,

If you can afford the cost why not go for one these 32GB class 10's http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=777_6&products_id=112725 at 7dayshop.com... I've had this microsd for a week now and so far liking it alot... I've used 7dayshop.com several times and never had a problem with them yet... go check out their other offers, prices are mostly reasonable too...

I haven't got a sdcard speed test app yet but will do later... Hopefully it'll trample my class 6 8GB into the floor :D LOL...

I recommend no less than a class 6 microsd card imo as I like fast transfers...

Hope this helps you all ^_^

treuno2k, omc accepts your 32GB microsd in your omc, that's what I wanted to hear.

I've had the Sandisk class4 16GB working perfectly in my OMC, Sandisk class4 32GB should suffice...that is if omc accepts it

Yep, my samsung 32GB class10 microsd currently working in my OMC... if my class 10 32GB works in my OMC so far (hopefully without faults) then I shouldn't see why a class 4 32GB microsd won't work in an OMC...

Has anyone tried the Sandisk 32GB Micro SDHC yet? They're on sale on Amazon for £26.49 and on play.com for £29.99 so look like the cheapest options for 32GB storage.

I bought a Transcend 32GB class4 a couple of weeks ago, it actually has class10 speeds...and a thirty year lifetime warranty

works perfect in Skate, much faster than my previous Sandisk16GB class4...
