Hello.

Im not a coder or anything, but i began to wonder how hard it is to port a rom from desire z to u8800.
Some of you have experience on this so can you tell how hard it is? I think that it would need atleast following:

1. Deodexed desire z rom and u8800 rom.
2. changing libraries. I mean those . so files.

I have read this guide, but i got error 0 when flashing:
[DEV][SENSE] Porting sense to other sense devices (XDA site)

Hopefully you can give some tips.

MIUI is ported from Desire Z. Talk to stockwell or flibblesan

AOSP based roms like CM7, MIUI are easy to do. Sense will be pretty difficult. I don't even know if Sense can be done.

Okay

I took the sense topic as example, as it has lot of info that needs to be replaced.
Well if i want to port the miui, where should i began?
There are alot of guides, but i cant understand them and i think it would be simpler to port a rom from device that has same kind of hardware. I don't have a lot of experience on coding, but i want to try.

Can you give me a short guide how did you port the miui, so i can try to port one too?
Mostly now in the beginning i would appreciate the info how did you make it to run.

Get a file comparing tool like winmerge and compare miui desire z with the u8800 build. make a note of any file differences. Any files that are only in the desire build can be removed as they aren't needed. libs, wpa_supplicant and wifi libs are the most important things. remove any specifically for the desire and use files only for the u8800.

It's not something I can make a guide for as it really needs you to spend some time looking for file differences. Once you know what the different files are you can make a list of them to assist you in future roms.

A question: I want to port CyanogenMod on the phone, with what should I compare the files and where to get the libs? From the stock rom?

Sense should be possible. Tbh I don't think it'd be that much harder to port than any other Desire Z ROM

Can you help me to fix this? i get error status 6 when i try to flash this package. I uploaded only this file, because i think it is the reason.

Im trying to port a sense rom, so i hope you can help me.
base rom:Virtuous sense
Needed to rename to .txt 'cause could upload with out extension.

Where is the file?
But is it so easy like described in that guide (port sense guide), just delete and replace files?... I followed the guide in like 15 mins, then I realized I would not dare to flash the file I was making

I may be wrong but I thought Sense ROMs will only work with Sense Devices? Which the U8800 is not

Maybe, but i want to give a shot. Hopefully Fibblesan will see my update.script and help me getting it working.

Nope, I've seen Sense on a variety of non-HTC devices

Today i got close. Install succesfull, but bootloop. Going toget adb and the logcat. My source is virtuous rom sense for desire z.

Changed libs... Now i have destroyed my phone. Imei is 0. After flashing my cust got corrupted Realised that it formatted to ext3, and i had to format it because i have windows pc... It flashed a raw image of miui boot to my phone. I had blue screen, but then i reverted to stock rom. What to do now? To warranty in stock rom? Suggestions, please.
I am still going to test few more times the sense.
