Since a lot of owners of Zte Racer have try to flash new 2.2.2 roms from Russia and Brazil, using tpt files from Zte X -850 from China Unicom, when they flash this rom with tpt files, their first boot logo has changed to logo of China Unicom Mobile Operator,so whit help of proffesionals and developers we can change this splash image,i know is it posible,i have try a lot of ways to do this but noone seemed to work, since i am not proffesional,i beg for HELP,i saw a lot of other phones can change splash screens

So if possible lets make this work

I'm not sure if this is solution for your problem but you can check http://uot.dakra.lt/. There you can choose boot animation, download zip, unpack it and resize all images (because they are for HTC Desire, 800x480 or something) to 320x240, zip them again and put on Racer using Root Explorer or something similar (you cannot use Recovery mod because MD5 are wrong and it is easier to simply overwrite existing booanimation.zip on Racer than recaluculate hashes).

I think the OP is talking about when powering up the handset, that the android logo as boot image, not the ROM bootup image.

If you head over to the Blade forum here, you can see, that on the blade, we have a partition called "splash", which is shown on first boot the moment it gets powered up. :) By fastboot'ing flash the binary image into that partition it appears :)

Forgive me if I'm wrong on this. :)

its the splash screen (green droid pic) not the bootanimation.................angelsweet changed the splash screen on his rom somehow, when i installed his 2.3.5 rc1 rom the splash screen changed from green droid to a x850 credit screen then loaded the bootanimation as normal.........until you install a different rom then the splash screen changes back to what it originally was.....will have to investigate on this......

@t0mm13b would those methods in the thread you posted work for Racer? obviously change .png size to 320x240

Good question, not 100% sure... this would involve some hacking on the partition layout (read: high brick risk)

On the blade, there's a TPT method which changes the amss.mbn and the partitions used, including splash partition...

You may have it on the racer - cannot say, but peeking at this should reveal it

cat /proc/mtd
If it shows "splash" then I think yes, by
fastboot flash splash some_boot_image.png

the technique for changing the png to 320x240... but it might also involve having to flip it upside down for it to show the right way when booting.

A perhaps, more safer alternative to the above is to compile a kernel with a boot image logo... ;)

that makes sense, probably how angelsweet has managed to change splash screen through the kernal

@t0mm13b

we have:

mtd0 recovery

mtd1 boot

mtd2 misc

mtd3 cache

mtd4 system

mtd5 userdata

mtd6 persist

Okie - yes, you do not have the splash partition.... so that's a no-go.

(Unless someone is quite brave enough to risk bricking the racer by repartition and hacking it up....:D)

Yes I guess, using a kernel boot image at compile time would be the safest alternative to take. :)

Cheers, B)

i think kernel option is the safest here, theres tigtex's modded kernel by yaosheng that just has initlogo.rle in its ramdisk that changes the green droid to a mini droid with some text that he wrote, cant remember really.. im attaching his boot.img so check it out, you can easily decompile the ramdisk and check it out.. i never personally tried to make these kind of images so i cant tell much about them but i googled a while back, theres a converter to get your bmp/png to binary rle or something to make it work etc etc, ill leave this to the image guys :P

edit: not sure if angelsweet is yaoshang so sorry about this part :o

boot.img

well thats the problem right there, chinese tpt files.. i never messed with tpt files tho but i could i guess or anyone here make a tpt backup of their gen1, i have a green droid and after that my image from boot.img then bootanimation.. i guess thats the solution, non-chinese gen1 tpt files

How to make tpt from update.zip?

you need to find someone with gen1 phone who will make a tpt backup of his device and give tpt files to you, you can check it from this thread.. i dont really like messing with download mode because its somewhat dangerous and i dont really have the money atm to buy a new phone if i brick racer >.>
