I recently ebay'ed myself a Xperia MiniPro ... it came with a recent build 2.1.1.A.0.6 (firmware 2.1-update1)

It was not instantly clear how to root then install a custom rom, so for future reference here are some links:

(I run a Linux desktop)

I rooted my phone using these instructions:

I then added ClockWork Recovery, using these:

I then installed the Cyanogen MOD:

So far the ROM is going great! .. the only problem I found was that the Symbol button did not seem to work.. this was fixed by a workaround where I chose input method android, choose input method standard input again (Settings -> Language & Keyboard)
